By the
year 2089, man has colonized planets beyond Earth
and space stations have been set up to shuttle
colonists to their destinations. Without warning,
squishy alien creatures attack the stations and
cause a ruckus. As one of two space crusaders who
have escaped capture, player takes charge and
shoots, powers up and rescues hostages through
various levels. At the end of each stage, a big boss
hustles into view which requires a lot more
firepower to turn into chunky pieces. A relentless
bomb timer counts down each level and behooves one
to run, explore, and destroy with the quickness
before it goes off.
Similar to all other Sega Ages games, Alien
Syndrome includes a history leaflet which may be
bound into the Sega Ages 2500 six-ringed binder that
shipped inside the limited edition of Phantasy Star
SA2500.
The front of the bonus leaflet features artwork
where the hero of the game fires his laser blaster
at something in the distance while hostages stand in
the background to his right. To his left, two alien
creatures are walking towards the hostages. On the
flipside, the leaflet features two screenshots, the
front and back of a flyer, black and white
pre-production sketches, and a Creator's Note all
crammed into a tightly spaced sheet.
