NCS Product Update
«©NCSX»
An initial shipment of AQ Interactive's highly
anticipated KORG DS-10 Synthesizer
software for the Nintendo DS arrived
today and preorders will begin shipping this
afternoon. Please note that the remainder of our
shipments are expected to arrive next week.
Due to the special arrangements required to import this product
from Japan, we had to stagger our shipments in
batches. We expect to fill all remaining preorders
that have already been submitted by our customers by next Wednesday or Thursday. New orders that are
submitted today should be processed by August 11,
2008 when our third batch is imported from Japan.
Pricing is set at US$62.90 per copy.
Quick Impressions
» The software is entirely in English.
There's not even a lil' bit of Japanese anywhere.
» The main menu features the following
selections:
• Single Play - Start a session and begin producing
•
Multi Play - Choose Master or Slave device for the
NDS and link up
•
Data Exchange - Upload or download data wirelessly
•
Options - Set screen brightness and button
configuration. May also view production credits.
» The default set-up shows the synthesizer
commands on the top screen while a keyboard is shown
on the touch screen. You may swap screens at any
time by tapping on the double-arrow icon located on
the upper-right corner of the touch screen.
From the Publisher
The KORG DS-10 is a music-creation software for
the Nintendo DS that combines the superior
interface of the Nintendo DS and the design
concept of the famous MS-10 synthesizer.
The sound sources in the KORG DS-10 come from
KORG - one of the world's top musical instrument
producers - and no effort was spared in creating
these ultra-high-quality sounds. The Nintendo DS's
dual-screen touch panel is used to the fullest to
provide a feel and operability that is
unsurpassed, and combined with the sensory input
mode at the touch-control screen, this unit can be
appreciated by the complete novice as well as the
seasoned professional.
In addition to the two analog synth simulators
and drum module, a 6-track/16-step sequencer
enables precise control and provides a wide range
of musical possibilities. Several units can be
connected and played together through a wireless
link, and this and other features make the
Nintendo DS and KORG DS-10 almost limitless in
their application - they can take you places that
no single synthesizer can.
The KORG DS-10 will introduce “stylus music” to
the world at the International Musikmesse
Frankfurt (Germany).

NCS Update:
July 2, 2008
«©NCSX»
NCS opened preorders
for KORG DS-10 a couple of months ago and things
were hunky-dory as preorders flowed in and interest
was high. Last week, one of our vendors warned us
that the distribution of the synthesizer-software
would be limited to Amazon's Japanese website
only. At first, we figured it was a
mistake. AQI wouldn't do that would they? We waited
for confirmation from another distributor and
unfortunately it's true. This means no one else can
get it - not Tsutaya, not SofMap, not Family Mart
nor Lawson. No one. Except Amazon.
EVIL
Our distributor is offering to help us
order KORG DS-10 from Amazon directly but that means
paying the retail price, taxes, and shipping fees.
After crunching the numbers, NCS came up with the
new price of US$62.90 instead of US$48.90 when we
originally started preorders.
Due to the change in the product offering, we'll
contact everyone by email who submitted a preorder
in the past few months to re-confirm their interest
at the new price level. We're saddened by the
"exclusivity" of KORG DS-10 in Japan but we'll try
our best to get it into the hands of musicians and
music fans who have preordered with NCS over the
past few months. In the meantime, new reservations
are welcome for KORG DS-10 which is scheduled to
ship on or around July 24, 2008.
