NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
The girls of Ikkitousen are back in a 2D punch 'n
kick action game that's somewhat reminiscent of the
coin-operated Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
from Banpresto (1995). Rather than releasing a
barebones side scrolling brawler, Marvelous goes beyond the
call of duty by including a sizable amount of
animated content in the game which chronicles the
stories of the Ikkitousen fighters. Eloquent
Fist also features a fair amount of fan
service in the form of wobbling boobs that shudder,
fragile clothing that shatters, and more Kanu Unchou
than you can shake a stick at. Full screen images of
the women warriors in vulnerable poses and wearing
tattered clothing bolsters the fan service in the
game.
As mentioned earlier, Eloquent Fist is a side
scrolling action game where players select a warrior
from 17 available fighters such as Kanu Unchou or
Ryomou Shimei. At the outset, four characters are
hidden behind silhouettes but 13 are ready for the
selection process. Players move their heroine/hero
from left to right to confront assorted enemies.
Punches and kicks are used to attack but special
moves are also available to defeat multiple enemies
at once. If you walk into an enemy, a "grab" move is
automatically triggered so that the foe is clutched.
The objects in the environment such as telephone
booths are destructible and reveal bonuses such as
steamed buns which recover health points. As the game progresses, fighters can win new outfits such as
bikinis in various colors and charge into battle
wearing just a 2-piece.
Bonus Schwag
All preorders will include a bonus Ikkitousen placard which
features three characters from the popular series.
If you move the placard, the bosoms of the three
heroines will seemingly shift and swing from side to
side. Sadly, the manufacturer gave away the bonus in
a ratio and we don't have any additional placards
for new orders submitted today.

Notes
»
Either the d-pad or analog nub may be used to
maneuver the heroine. Double tapping the controls in
one direction normally makes a street brawler run in
that direction. This isn't the case here.
»
The spirit of Final Fight
is alive and well
in Eloquent Fist.
The first clue is the fact that a single punch can
affect multiple enemies at once. There can be five
enemies in front of your fighter but by simply
pressing the "Square" button to punch, she'll attack
all of them.
»
Male hooligans are joined by female students from
rival schools who both heap attacks on the player's
protagonist.
»
A combo meter located on the lower right corner of
the screen keeps track of attack chains as they're
meted out. If your hero is caught between two fierce
attackers, they can juggle her by attacking from
both sides at once.
»
Every attack is accompanied by an utterance or an
intonation. This tends to be grating after the
sixteenth time.
