«©NCSX» When Gradius first hit the coin-op arena in 1985, Konami basically launched a franchise that would engender numerous sequels, derivatives, and adjuncts. Over the years, the company also parodied the super-serious and grayish Gradius series with the pastel-tinted Parodius games. Since the market can never get enough of a good thing, Konami invokes the Gradius series once again with Otomedius Gorgeous. The default "ship" in Otomedius is a blue-haired gal named Aoba Aona who pilots a Vic Viper airframe but five other ships are selectable. Otomedius also pays homage to other Konami shooters of yore including Xexex and Salamander with familiar weapon systems, sound effects, and characters.
   The first stage starts off in classic Gradius fashion where a stream of enemies appear on the upper portion of the screen. Shoot them all and collect the coins and bonuses that are dropped. Other enemies meander into the screen followed by additional streams of spherical enemies that appear on the top and bottom of the screen. Note that there's streaming slivers of lights that flow through the first level but they're not dangerous lasers... just screen effects. Midway through the first level, the scenery shifts from outer space to the ocean and the beach. That's right, the beach where tanks and penguins attempt to stop your assault.

«©NCSX» For too long, the Prinnies have labored under the yoke of their mistress Etna. One Prinny has had enough and ventures out on his own. Well, not really on his own - he's actually under orders from Etna to seek out stolen sweets and pastries that have been absconded by some dastardly rascal. Still, being independent for a little while is better than being at the beck and call of a demanding taskmaster like Etna.

   The Prinny protagonist in Atlus' new PSP side-scrolling platform game can jump, slash, twist, dash, and toss bombs to overcome adversity. For those times when a little something extra is needed, the Prinny may also hop onto armored vehicles armed with frightful artillery-firing armaments. It's almost like Metal Slug except the grunt is a sword-wielding penguin and the enemies are primarily whimsical creatures with an edge.

   The first stage introduces the play mechanics where the Prinny moves from left to right and slashes at relatively tame enemy creatures. The Prinny can perform a double-jump to scale platforms and also fire off a crescent-shaped projectile attack while in mid-air. When Prinny is firmly on the ground however, he can only perform a sword slash. To avoid attacks and to pass through obstacles, Prinny twirls himself like a ballerina. To watch this in action, look out for the demon statue on the second level. If Prinny tries to waddle past it, he'll be destroyed. Only spinning will allow him safe passage. Preorders will ship with a bonus BGM soundtrack CD.

«©NCSX» Mobile Suits from 16 properties including Gundam Seed and Gundam OO gather together in the latest PSP Gundam action game which features a Story Mode as well as a customizable Versus Mode where up to four players battle it out. Note that Bandai developed a new game engine for Gundam vs Gundam which is dissimilar from the engine used in the previous PSP Gundam games. It feels solid but we're still getting used to the new engine and control mechanics since the previous PSP Gundam play mechanics are ingrained at this point. Movement may be controlled by using either the d-pad or the analog stick but since dashing requires two quick tugs in a cardinal direction, the d-pad is preferable to analog.

   Upon starting the game, a mecha roster appears and a total of 33 mechs and their attendant pilots may be chosen which are based on 16 Gundam animated serials. The cursor initially rests on Amuro Ray from the original Kidou Senshi Gundam and his trusty RX-78-2. Move the cursor to the right and you'll highly Char Aznable with his red MS-06C Zaku II. Further down, all of the other Gundam series featured in the game and their respective heroes and mechs may be chosen and their stories played. Players may select heroes such as Judo Ashita from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Seabrook Arno who hails from Mobile Suit Gundam F91, Loran Cehack from Turn A Gundam, and many more. Once the game starts, players are thrust into the thick of a battle where opposing mechs are already jetting around and firing beams any which way but loose.

As the story goes, a triangular-shaped container called the Delta Box has been discovered in the future and agents from the main Mafia families are all in a mad dash to procure it for themselves. The Delta Box exhibits strange and powerful properties which are demonstrated in the introductory sequence of the game. Since it is the Future Arc, Tsuna is a powered-up version of himself and this is evident during the first battle against Gokudera. Tsuna can thrust around the battlefield and wallop his opponents with explosive attacks. Gokudera's dynamite-throwing antics just aren't any match against a firebrand like Tsuna.

   The 16 fighters in the game are culled from the Hitman mange/anime series and include Yamamoto, Dino, Lambo, Chrome, Hibari, and more.
