PS2 Koihime Musou - New Import, In Stock

NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCSX» Originally released for the Japanese PC in January 2007 where it went on to sell 50,000 copies, Koihime Musou is a re-interpretation of the Sangokushi (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) Warring States period in Chinese history. Instead of male generals waging war against each other, over 30 attractive maidens provide all of the conflict, arms, and even love. Koihime Musou is a tactical strategy game which features interactive sequences so the bonds between the player and the maidens grows ever stronger. Amidst the carnage of the Warring States, five principalities emerge with plans to unite the nation under a single crest.

Characters in the game include Kanu Unchou who appears on the center of the PS2 game cover,
Chohi Ekitoku, Choun Shiryu, Kochu Kansho, and many more. At the outset of the game, a lad named Hongo Kazuto is teleported from the present day to olden China where war is afoot. Hongo is assaulted by a group of brigands but Kanu Unchou comes to the rescue and saves him from certain death. Kanu assumes him to be a presaged hero who has come to put the Warring States to rest and bring tranquility back to the land. By way of coincidence and circumstance, Hongo eventually joins Kanu in her bid to unite China.

NCS Game Notes
* The introduction to the game features the various maidens of the game in a static music video. Static means that the images are non-animated by screen effects such as pans and scans give them a semblance of motion. The song featured in the intro is "Howling Soul."

* A character gallery and faction roster may be viewed by checking out the fourth and fifth options on the main menu.

* The entire BGM soundtrack featured in the game may be listened to by selecting the sixth option on the main menu. Upon choosing the BGM section, you'll be presented with three pages of songs for a total of 42 tracks.

* Upon starting the game, the protagonist is at school and speaking to a classmate. To toggle automatic forwarding of the text so that you don't have to press the "O" button each and every time a snippet of dialogue is finished, press the "R1" trigger. To fast-forward through the introductory sequence, press the "R2" trigger continuously. Be prepared to spend about 1/2 hour sitting through the introduction if you let it run at normal speed. During the course of the dialogue, we learn that the protagonist is interested in the Warring States of Chinese history and has considerable knowledge on the movers and shakers during that pivotal period.

* With a flash of white light, the protagonist is teleported to Ancient China. Once the light fades, a hilly expanse lies before his eyes along with blue skies that are painted with wispy clouds.

* Three brigands appear - a short one, a medium one, and a really fat one whose belly bulges from beneath his undersize shirt. Their intent is robbery and they're about to do their thing when Kanu Unchou swoops in with fire in her eyes. She wields the Blue Dragon Crescent Spear and dispatches the thugs.

* The next introductory sequence will take about 45 minutes to play through in realtime at normal speed. Afterwards, a military campaign kicks off where Kanu Unchou and a red haired moppet named Chohi Ekitoku lead a group of troops wearing green and lofting up a green banner face off against a matching force wearing yellow fatigues and holding up a yellow banner. The fighting isn't done in realtime and your job is to move the troops into up to 10 different formations and then select various actions for them to perform. The view is of two large forces arrayed against each other but there's no animation. Just some sound effects to indicate each attack (roars from the crowd) and archers doing their thing (sound of arrows whipping through the air). Troop counts may be viewed on the top of the screen for both sides. As long as your troops are being depleted slower than the enemy contingent, you have a good chance of winning. For example, if your formation consistently allows you to destroy 200 enemy troops and their counterattack only removes 50 troops from your ranks, you're on a good trajectory to win the campaign.

* The developer commissioned voice actresses for the PS2 conversion of Koihime Musou and they provide snippets of speech during the digital novel portions of the game which are plentiful and can run for 30-45 minutes per stretch. Although much of the dialogue in the game isn't accompanied by voice acting, portions of it is acted out.
