Game Synopsis

Two years after Ashley Mizuka Robbins settled her
business on
Blood Edward Island in the first Another Code
game, she's back in another adventure that
takes her to the serene surroundings of Lake Juliet.
At the outset, Ashley receives an invitation from
her father Richard Robbins to visit him at the lake
and she catches a bus to get there. Ashley's also
been having vivid memory flashes of her mother
Sayoko Robbins including one which indicates that
foul play may have been involved in her death.
Shortly after arriving at Lake Juliet, Ashley runs into a park
ranger named Dan Maxwell who looks like the
archetypal broad-shouldered, square jawed, crisp
uniformed protector of woodland animals and forest
flora. During their conversation, players get to
make a few decisions which demonstrate the animated
choice-system used in the game. The Dual Another
System (DAS) gadget returns but it's now modeled
after the Nintendo DSi. How do we know it's a DSi?
Because we can see two cameras on the device. The
game play uses a combination of the Wii Remote and
Nunchuk but Ashley is never controlled directly -
arrows on the screen, a magnifying glass, and other
icons are clicked to make her move and handle her
business throughout the environs of Lake Juliet.

Game Notes & Spoilers
» At the outset of the game, you'll be prompted to
create a save data file. Soon after that, the title
screen appears which is simple and only contains the
game logo, credits, and a prompt for you to press
the "A" button. Press "A" and the following options
appear:

OPTIONS
» After starting a new game, a Nintendo DS flies out
of the screen towards the viewer and a split-screen
shows Ashley standing still in front of a window.
Move the Wii Remote so that the targeting squares on
the screen center on Ashley's face and press the "A"
button. A scan sequence will play where Ash's face
is digitized. After the scan, Ashley is standing in
her room and giving a little background on what's
been going on since her adventure on the Nintendo
DS. There is no speech, just text dialogue that
appears on the bottom of the screen.
» A short reflection about Ashley's mom plays and
our heroine gets ready for a trip. She runs to catch
Bus 101 that's headed for Lake Juliet. The bus is
empty inside and she grabs a seat in the back where
she takes a swig from a can of soft drink.
Eventually she nods off as the bus hurtles towards
their destination. While sleeping, some more
memories of her mother appear on screen which ends
with someone shooting a gun which wakes her up. The
bus stops in front of a station and Ashley gets off.
A wind kicks up and a specter pushes her aside and
grabs her bag. A black car screeches away and Ashley
chases the black specter and runs into a thicket of
trees. She looks around but cant find the specter
who has ducked behind a tree. Dejected, she walks
forward and stops. Ash is naturally perturbed and
pulls a locket out of her pocket and stares at it
for a few seconds before depositing it back. She
then pulls out a Nintendo DSi which is known as a
DAS in the game. We know it's a DSi because we can
see the camera on outside and the camera on the
inside when she flips it open.
» Another Code is a point and click
adventure similar to its forebear. Control over
Ashley isn't handled directly but the player clicks
on arrow buttons and a magnifying glass to move and
inspect objects. For example, early in the game,
you'll be able to inspect a billboard that welcomes
visitors to Lake Juliet. Continue to the right and a
guest house will eventually pop into view but the
door is locked so entry can't be granted yet. If you
continue to the right by clicking on the right
directional arrow, Ashley will eventually run into
the doors of the Lake Juliet Campsite but an I.D.
card is required to get in which can only be
obtained at the locked Guest House. Continue to the
right and Ashley will eventually run into Dan
Maxwell who's a park ranger sort of guy. Two
decisions (graphical multiple choices) must be made
during the conversation with Maxwell which are made
from a 2-option selection screen. A few more
decisions are made during the conversation which are
selected from a static menu that appears on screen.
» After speaking with Dan, head back to the guest
house because the door will now be unlocked and
Ashley can walk right in. Once inside, objects such
as a gumball machine, a rack of merchandise, a
cooler full of soft drinks, and a pay phone may be
viewed. If Ashley looks behind the blinds, she'll
spy someone snooping around in the other room. To
trigger the next event, attempt to go through the
door into the other room where the snooper is and
he'll come out. He's an employee named Tommy
Harrison who sorta looks like Kurt Cobain. He hands
her something to sign and gives her an I.D. card.
With the I.D. card in hand, Ashley can now visit the
Lake Juliet campsite.
» Progress may be saved at any time by activating
the DAS and then clicking on the rightmost option.
Six data slots will pop up for storing your place in
the game.
