NCS Game Synopsis
©NCSX»
The Kingdom of Meridian located in the world of
Fulheim is under attack. A contingent of invaders
known as Contaminant Dragons are winging their way
to the capital city of Diamant and their intent is
utter destruction. Mighty airships teeming with
soldiers are sent to greet the dragons and repel
their advance. On board one of the ships is a young
knight named L'Arc Bright Lagoon who carries a massive broadsword
that he swings with one arm. As the Contaminant
Dragons clash with the airships, one of the dragons
faces off against L'Arc in a direct encounter. The
dragon moves fast and has a definite height
advantage but he's no match for the hero's lightning
fast sword strokes and skills. Before L'Arc can
claim victory however, another Contaminant Dragon
swoops across the deck of the airship and knocks
both combatants off and into a death plunge to the
ground below. L'Arc maneuvers himself in midair so
that the dying dragon takes the brunt of the impact
and he lands with nary a scratch...
Arc Rise Fantasia is a
fairly conventional RPG that's highly reminiscent of
a "Tales of the..." game title. The
game's hero even looks like Lloyd Irving from
Tales of Symphonia. At the outset, L'Arc
meets a young girl named Ryfia who has healing
powers and the ability to tap the power of the ley
lines that exist actoss the world of Fulheim.

NCS Game Notes
»
Game Intro - Rain falls on a grassy field covered with multi-colored
flowers. The camera pans out to show two miniature "islands"
on a body of water while piano music plays and clouds slowly
move from right to left in the background. If you leave the
game alone, a battle sequence automatically plays where the
hero faces off against two odd creatures - a blue bird and
something that looks like a turnip with a white flower on
top.
» Press the "A" button and "NEW GAME" and "CONTINUE" may be
selected. Upon starting a new game, a save data file is
created followed by a SYSTEM menu which allows the adjustment
of game parameters such as sound volume, vibration, etc.
» The protagonist L'Arc is aboard a military vessel which slowly
moves across the sky along with other military vessels. In
the distance, winged monsters known as Contaminant Dragons swoop in as the armored
soldiers on board stand in defensive postures with swords
raised. One winged beast flaps its wings above deck and a
battle begins between the hero and the creature. To attack,
highlight the first menu selection that appears on screen
and then press the "A" button. The camera will shift to the
winged beast so press "A" again to attack. After the strike,
the creature will counterattack with its tail. And so it
goes until the beast is wounded and drops to the deck. A
cinema plays which shows a battle where hero digs his sword
into the monster's abdomen but in the midst of victory,
another monster swoops in and sweeps the hero and the
dying dragon off the deck of the ship. The monster
plummets along with the hero to the ground but while
the creature dies and self immolates, L'Arc lands gracefully with nary
a scratch. After the creature burns, a girl starts singing
and walks into the scene. She steps in front of the monster,
waves her hands and it disappears. The hero watches in
amazement from a short distance away. Later, the girl walks over and introduces
herself as Ryfia. They talk for a little bit before she nearly faints
and is caught by the hero. She recovers and they continue
their conversation. L'Arc looks a lot like Lloyd Irving of the
Namco Tales games.
» The game begins in Retea Forest where control is handed
over to the player. If you run to the west, you can look at
a shiny crystal on the ground but there's not much to do
there so head east and meet two turnip monsters
which leads to the game's first battle. Before each
encounter, the screen cracks as if to show there's
going to be bruising ahead. The characters also hold
conversations on screen from time to time to relay
information to the player. L'Arc attacks the
creatures while his new friend
can perform healing magic. She'll level up after the first
battle.
» Continue onwards and a blue-bird creature with turnip
companion attacks the party. They'll concentrate their blows
on Ryfia but L'Arc can now perform multiple strikes in the same turn
so the two monsters are defeated in the first round of
attacks.
» Keep on moving and eventually a save point appears in the
forest. Ten save slots are available for saving your
progress.
» Since monsters wander the world freely, encounters may be
avoided by simply moving away whenever a monster appears on
the overworld. They don't actively seek to attack unless
you're party is spotted. In the early going, you can choose to pursue them for the sake of
leveling up and expanding the action gauge.
» Eventually the party reaches a river but it can be crossed
by simply pressing the "A" button so that they hop over a
rock that's conveniently in the middle of the river in the
exact spot where the pathway leads to the river. After one
more river hop, a cinema plays which shows L'Arc and Ryfia walking
along when rain starts to pour from the skies. She starts
spinning in a sort of dance but trips and hero is there to grab her and keep
sure she doesn't drop onto the soggy ground. It's a short
interlude to show the characters' potential attraction.
Eventually the party reaches the end of the forest and a
world map appears which shows the entire land upon which
they travel. To the southeast of their position is a town
called Topazion which contains another save point and a town
full of folk to talk to. A shop near the entrance to
town sells healing potions of varying strength.
Further up, a tavern and an inn may be checked out.
Inside the inn, hero reunites with the Prince of
Meridian named Alphonse Zena Meridia and they have a conversation and
catch up. Alphonse wears bluish armor and has blonde locks
atop his head.
» At the end of town lives the village elder who's a bald-headed dude. Some information may be gathered from him.
Afterwards, as you're heading out back to where the inn is,
some more associates may be encountered and hero gets 2000
Rico to use on his journey. Rico is the coin of the realm. Some new villagers may also be
spoken to for some additional information and/or gifts.
» Before leaving town, one more interaction sequence
plays and Prince Alphonse joins the party.
» There's only a certain number of moves available to the
entire party during each encounter. An action gauge governs
the amount of moves that's available to the party
and one gauge covers the entire party so that one
member can use up all of the gauge or everyone can
participate until the gauge is used up. You can elect to make
one character attack and use up all of the available moves
or spread out the action between the available characters.
You can select which hero is active by pushing the D-pad on
the Wii Remote to select the character's portrait and make
him/her the active participant in the round.
