NCS Game Synopsis
Update: July 30, 2009
«©NCSX»
The spiky-haired Zack Fair is a soldier in the
employ of the Shinra Electric Power Company. Young,
strong, and impressionable, Zack is a member of a
private army known as SOLDIER that works for Shinra
Power. Zack aspires to become a Soldier First Class
which is an elite branch of SOLDIER where the best
of the best are assigned. At the outset of the game,
Zack engages in a thrilling virtual reality sequence
where he races across the top of a train, battles
soldiers, and flies through the air to disconnect
some train cars from the main caboose group. The
sequence is entirely CG with some beautiful visuals
to appreciate.
Soon after the VRS sequence, Zack is summoned to a briefing room
where his supervisor named Lazard gives him an
assignment. A Soldier First Class named Genesis has
gone missing along with a number of other elite
soldiers. Zack is to investigate their disappearance
and determine what has happened. He is allowed to
bring a Turk with him and their first area of
exploration is a mountainous region in Wutai...
Crisis Core: FFVII takes place before the events of
the original Final Fantasy VII game and features a
recognizable cast of characters which include Cloud
Strife, Sephiroth, Aerith Gainsborough, Tifa
Lockhart, Reno, Rude, and Yuffie Kisaragi. The whole
gang's back...
The "Ultimate Hits" release of Crisis Core is a budget-price
reissue of the game which is similar to the
"Greatest Hits" banner in North America.

NCS Game Notes
»
Intro:
Shrill music plays as the camera opens up into a
city at dusk and slowly passes by the Shinra
Electric Company. The credits appear and a train may
be seen coursing through tracks and is shadowed by a
helicopter. An agent named Zack is running on top of
the train and being shot at from above. Next, the
Reno and Rude are shown followed scenes from the
in-game cinemas which appear in brisk sequences that
jump from scene to scene. There's one scene where
Angeal and Sephiroth clash swords and another scene
where an apple on a tree branch is being immolated
by flames.
» On the title screen, a Soldier stands by himself
and digs a sword into the ground as feathers slowly
waft downloads. The only options available are NEW
GAME and LOAD GAME.
» Start a NEW GAME and an introductory cinema plays
where the hero of the game named Zack Fair leaps
from a helicopter onto the top of a runaway train.
His mentor Angeal gives him a bit of encouragement
before he runs from car to car while encountering
shots showered from above and resistance from
armored soldiers. He pumps his fists while running
and slashes his sword to dispatch the enemy
soldiers. In one sequence, he leaps high and
plummets downwards with sword drawn to sever the
link between the lead train segment and the cars
behind it.
» Zack sheaths his sword and the train eventually
stops. He leaps off and onto the ground where Zack
ventures into a warehouse area and receives a call
on his cellphone. Soldiers enter the area from
behind him and begin to attack. Zack's still talking
on the phone but temporarily ends the call when
bullets start flying towards him. After steeling
himself for a bit, Zack draws his sword and an
action scene begins where players get to attack the
soldiers. A female voice announces "Activating
Combat Mode" and the battle begins. The enemies
aren't substantial and they'll all go down after a
few slashing attacks. After the encounter is over,
the female voice announces "Conflict Resolved" and
Zack flips his cell phone to his ear once more and
resumes his conversation but ends it soon
afterwards.
» He runs up a couple of flights of stairs as
pedestrians rush downwards. After reaching the top,
he encounters a snarling beast with a red mohawk and
a whippy barbed tail. Another combat scene begins
where all of the attacks available to Zack may be
used to destroy the creature. Afterwards, a sword is
shoved into the area directly above Zack's left
shoulder. He turns around and sees that it's
Sephiroth. A short clash of swords occurs but Zack
is no match and is thrown backwards. Sephiroth
thrusts a killing stroke downwards but it is blocked
by Angeal who then gets up and flips open his
cellphone and gives the command to abort the
mission. The simulation ends and the virtual world
dissolves to reveal that Zack is wearing a Virtual
Reality helmet...
» After the first sequence is over and the Virtual
Reality System simulation has been terminated,
you'll be prompted to save your progress to memory
stick duo.
» Location: The Shinra Electric Power Company
In the next scene, Zack is performing some squats
and is talking to his friend who is wearing a helmet
with visor. Angeal enters the room and summons him.
Zack enters a room with a door that's marked "LV.49
Briefing Room." Once inside, there's nine chairs and
nine terminals lined up on a V-shaped table. Above
the table is a large video screen which displays
"Soldier First Class" and "Missing in Action" along
with an image of a missing soldier named Genesis.
Zack's senior officer Angeal Hewley is inside along
with a blonde-haired, eyeglass-wearing gentleman
named Lazard who manages the SOLDIER Department
inside Shinra. Based on the intel given to Zack from
Lazard, a group of soldiers have gone missing in
Wutai and Zack is to travel to Wutai to determine
what happened to the soldiers. The mission was
originally given to Sephiroth to handle but the
silver-haired devil refused the assignment so it's
handed to Zack who accepts it.
» The cinematic cut scenes in the game feature voice
acting but in-game sequences only feature text-based
dialogue sans vocals.
» During an cut scene or cinema, pressing START will
allow you to pause the game.
» The button controls have a dual function depending
on the situation:
TRIANGLE - Bring up Main Menu / Block (during
combat)
SQUARE - View overhead map of current location /
Roll and dodge (during combat)
CIRCLE - Action button for talking or fighting
CROSS - Activate Modulating Phase (during combat)
R-TRIGGER Spin camera clockwise / Switch skills
(during combat)
L-TRIGGER Spin camera counterclockwise / Switch
skills (during combat)
» Either the d-pad or analog nub may be used to move
Zack around.
»Zack starts off with 1000 GIL at the outset of the
game. To spend that GIL, press the TRIANGLE button
and move the cursor all the way down to the last
option which is a SHOP. |
