 «©NCSX» Shu, Jiro, Kluke, and the rest of the Blue Dragon gang are back in a new adventure but this time around, they're supporting cast members. In Blue Dragon: Ikai no Kyoujuu, players create a brand new hero or heroine who suffers from amnesia. Despite the protagonist's lack of memories, he/she nevertheless leads the party on a new action-packed adventure that takes the group around the world. The game features a 3D battle system where heroes attack with conventional weapons as well as their respective Shadows. An item synthesis system is also available where new weapons and armor may be crafted and upgraded for use on the battlefield. Early reservations will include a bonus Blue Dragon fan booklet in 50% ratio that's being given away by Namco Bandai.

 «©NCSX» When a swirling dimensional portal opens up over the Antarctic land mass, the governments of Earth get a little nervous. A team of explorers wearing DEMONICa suits (gold helmets, gauntlets, and padded body armor) is quickly assembled and sent racing to the incident site on four armored vehicles. When the portal is reached, the team discovers that it leads to another world known as the Schwarzverse which is populated by 300 types of devils, demons, and other scaly malcontents.
   Players take on the role of a Japanese team member who's joined by Commander Gore, an American fellow named Jimenez, and a Russian woman who answers to Zelenin. The party will seek the assistance and kindness of demons in order to conquer the Schwarzverse and survive.

 «©NCSX» Treasure's vision of Astro Boy on the Gamboy Advance a few years back was inspiring. The controls, the visuals, and the overall feel of the game gave us new respect for Astro Boy and his innate abilities. A new Astro Boy game wings its way to the Japanese marketplace this week but Treasure isn't involved. Not even an iota. This time around, the PSP Astro Boy game is being published by D3 Publisher of Simple 2000 gaming fame. 

   Atom is a side scrolling platform game and shooter where players take control of Astro Boy and battle the minions of President Stone who runs Metro City. When Mr. Stone puts monstrous robot called the "Peacekeeper" into active service (which goes rogue), Astro Boy must stop it before Metro City is destroyed. The Peacekeeper fills up the entire height of the screen and presents a formidable opponent against Astro's power.

   The platform action is standard fare where Astro jumps over obstacles, shoots up goons, and continuously moves from left to right across the stages. The levels that feature side scrolling shooting are also standard fare with a difficulty level that's about average. The cross-fire never gets too intense and gamers who have conquered shmups of the recent past won't get bogged down by anything the game throws out. Astro's weapons include a laser cannon, a drill attack, and a machine gun attack where Astro spins on-screen and blasts everything around him.

 «©NCSX» When Peter Parker went on a fateful class trip a few decades ago, he got bitten by a radioactive spider and ultimately became Spiderman. When Kouichi Hayase goes on a class trip to the Shin Ukishima Construction Site, he's smacked by a plummeting "satellite" which leaves him in a coma. Eventually however, the incident transforms him into a mech pilot extraordinaire who possesses inordinate strength. Kouichi joins an organization called JUDA which owns a number of mechs known as Machina and Kouichi's weapon of choice is a fast and agile mech known as the Linebarrel.
   The Kurogane Linebarrels game for the PSP is an S-RPG which features interactive sequences that move the story along. The interactive parts of the game may be toggled to "Auto" so that they'll move along without you having to press a button after each snippet of dialogue. Battles are fought between groups of mechs on isometric battlefields which are viewed from a 3/4 overhead perspective. When an encounter kicks off, a short animation plays which shows the clashing antics in relatively fluid motion. Voice acting accompanies the battlefield antics for additional drama.
   Kouichi's team is made up of Emi Kizaki who was the original pilot of the Linebarrel, Satoru Yamashita who pilots the "Hind-Kind" Machina, Miu Kujo which drives a Machina called the "Painkiller," and a number of other mech handlers who operate their own unique Machinas. 
   Early preorders will ship with a bonus Linebarrels bookmark which features two nearly nude girls in bunny outfits.

 «©NCSX» When we look at White Knight Chronicles, we think back to the winter of 2008 when the US dollar got decimated against the yen (sort of like now) and the end of the financial world was nigh. Iceland had gone bankrupt and doomsayers notched it as the first domino to fall. Fear was rampant and we watched the market tumble with majestic velocity. The dollar liquidation got so bad at one point that we were paying a little over US$82 per copy of WKC at the wholesale level... before shipping costs.
   It was with jaundiced eye that we stared at the preorder price for White Knight Chronicles EX Edition back in August 2009. Price: JPY3619. It felt like a cruel joke but we're not going to dwell on the past... too much. With the EX Edition, Sony's releasing a fully patched version of the game which incorporates the First Wave and Second Wave updates onto a Blu-Ray disc for players who prefer hardcopies of their hard-earned games. The official updates log may be viewed on Sony's Shirokishi website which chronicles the first wave of changes and the second wave of updates.

Aoi Blink is a horizontally-scrolling platform game where players maneuver a trio of characters who appear onscreen all at once. The active character leads the trio but the active status may be toggled between the three on the fly.

   NCS' remaining inventory is brand new and factory sealed from our original warehouse inventory from the Spring of 1990. Most of our copies are tagged with a JPY6200 price label on the front of the CD.
