Caution    When the humidifier is blowing mist, please do not unscrew the dome of the humidifier while it is misting vapor because you will damage the heating element in the unit. NCS Product Synopsis Update: January 18, 2010 «©NCSX» During the winter months, the heat in our office building gets cranked up pretty high so that the air becomes dry and uncomfortable. It's a relative scorcher indoors whilst the temperature outdoors is freezing. To alleviate the problem of arid office air, NCS doesn't use a humidifier. We just go around each room with an olde school atomizer and mist the air a few times every day. That routine be coming to an end however since Taito has released an R2-D2 USB Humidifier which heats water up and releases it in a stream of cool vapor.    Roughly 2 ounces of water is stored in R2-D2's lil' body which is vaporized by the heater-siphon that's connected to R2's dome. Once the water is hot enough, cool fan-propelled steam will begin to stream out of the porthole on the top of the humidifier. The two ounces of water will last for about 45 minutes of humidifying action. A power switch on the back side of the dome turns the humidifier on and off. The humidifier doesn't require batteries and is powered by plugging it into any USB port. Pros * Easy operation * Sweet R2-D2 design * No moving parts * Steam Humidifier which vaporizes the hot water which is free from impurities and biological organisms. Cons * Takes about 25-30 minutes to heat water before steam appears * Short USB cable which measures only 2' * No automatic shut-off    To speed up the humidifying action, pour hot tap water into the R2-D2 holder which will reduce the startup time to about 10-15 minutes. NCS Humidifier Operation Timeline 09:47AM    Filled R2-D2 to the brim with roughly 2 ounces of lukewarm water 10:02AM    Still no steam but the top of the dome is hot and the body feels warm 10:08AM    No steam yet but the dome is getting progressively hotter. 10:11AM    A wispy amount of steam begins to waft from the porthole on top of the humidifier. 10:13AM    The steam begins to pour from the top of the dome in a consistent jet which is clearly visible. The steam is a very fine mist which is cool to the touch.
