Junovald is a world governed by the
power and will of two gods: Meiktilia presides over
the death of all life and the destruction of all
things. Formival presides over the birth of all life
and the creation of all things.
Meiktilia has been said to bless two types of people
with special gifts. "Blades" have the unparalleled
and supernatural skill to destroy the physical
structure of things. "Sealers" use magical abilities
to destroy the metaphysical, the spiritual structure
of things.
Formival's power is farther reaching and less exclusive. His
remarkable power allows all things, once dead, to
revive. When creatures face death, their original
souls, or spiritual structure, escape their vessels
of flesh, which are in turn controlled by a fragment
of Formival's soul. These monsters, imbued with the
spark of life by a god, grow stronger once revived
and become a threat to others.
These undead creatures are collectively known as Belzeds. Due to
their nature, they cannot be defeated using normal
means. The true destruction of their physical and
metaphysical structures requires the power of both a
Blade and a Sealer. Only then will they finally
cease to exist.
Due to a civil war a few years ago, Nine's homeland of Lorvin has
become the nesting ground for a large number of
Belzeds. A group of powerful Sorcerers,
Necromancers, and Wizards crafted barriers around
the kingdom to prevent an all-out massacre, but the
problem itself has not simply faded away.
Realizing the time had come for more decisive actions to be taken,
King Arzelide summons Nine, widely recognized as the
most talented of all Blades, and Aisha, a Sealer
whose incredible powers have isolated her from the
outside world....
Characters Nine Asfel - A Blade whose outstanding record
for hunting Belzeds often brings him more infamy
than fame. He keeps his cool despite the attention
he receives for his achievements as a Blade, whether
the attention is praise or score. A free-spirit by
nature, he generally dislikes being bound to a
single place or a set of rules for very long. He
speaks withuot regard for others' feelings and
favors using sarcasm to mock people he finds beneath
him.
Aisha Romandine - A Sealer gifted, and cursed, with
exceptional potential. Sometimes, the sheer amount
of power she has been given by Meiktilia is too much
of a burden for her body to bear. Her life was
forever changed when her powers went out of control,
taking many innocent lives. Fearing another
accident, the people had her locked away, protected
and cared for by the kingdom's authorities. Aisha is
proud, strong and resilient. She is never afraid to
stand up for what she thinks is right.
Alfred Formilio - Nine's younger brother, who was
also adopted and raised by King Arzelide. While
lacking Nine's brute strength, his skills as a
Necromancer make him quite a formidable Blade. His
personality is a far cry from Nine's. He focuses on
the task at hand, determined to do what he feels is
his duty. He is honest and blunt to a fault.
Arzelide Lorvin - Lorvin's current crowned monarch.
A Sorcerer of unprecedented skill once known as the
Keeper of Lorvin. His powers are so magnificent that
he was able to shield the entire kingdom with a
magical barrier, protecting it from attack during
the last great war.
Meiktilia - In Junovald, she is praised as a god of
death and destruction, making her Formival's
opposite. She is known for destroying and absorbing
all life. Nine and Aisha's special Blade and Sealer
abilities exist because of Meiktilia's destructive
powers and her interest in them leads her to grant
them even more power.
System Basics: Battle System » Character switching is key!!Having to
switch characters in Last Rebellion adds a bit of a
twist to battles and field exploration. The system
allows you to switch between Nine and Aisha at will.
They each possess unique, customizable skill sets,
so it's important to assign skills that suit your
play style to both characters. This way you'll be
better prepared for what's lurking in the shadows of
Junovald!
» Use dual blades and vicious magic on your foes!
Battles play out in a traditional turn-based,
command selection fashion. During the player's turn,
select [Attack & Stamp] or [Stamp Magic] and use the
[Switch] ability to input commands for both Nine and
Aisha. Switching is not counted as a turn; one turn
involves both Nine and Aisha taking action. The
order they attack is up to the player. Their actions
will unfold immediately, though some skills may not
take effect until the enemy's turn or the player's
next turn (status, ailment, spells, etc).
» Eliminate Belzeds using "Stamp" and "Seal!"
When using a Blade's sword to attack, mystical
glyphs will attach themselves to the enemy's
targeted body part. These glyphs are referred to as
Stamps. Stamps act as the destination point for all
Stamp Magic, like a homing beacon. In one physical
attack turn, you can Stamp multiple enemies and
multiple body parts.
» Stamp Magic - After enemies have been stamped, you
can use the Stamp Magic command. Once chosen, the
Stamp Magic will effect all Stamped body parts,
making it highly effective for defeating enemies in
a timely manner. For example, if you have Stamped an
enemy completely, you may deal damage equivalent to
several sword strikes!
» Seal - Belzeds are essentially undead bodies being
manipulated by Formival's soul. Destroying their
body along won't keep them from reviving; they will
only return even more powerful than before. To
defeat them completely, their souls must be Sealed
quickly after the body's defenses are down.
» Absorb - Once an enemy has been knocked down by
attacks, the skill Absorb can be used before Sealing
the enemy to absorb MP. In exchange, the enemies
will revive within an even quicker timeframe. Be
sure to Seal them as soon as possible after using
Absorb!
