This is a new Japanese GBA game but we learned recently that VGA won't grade games that have imperfections on the cardboard box. For example, on these particular copies of Mario Party Advance, the seams on the cardboard side flaps appear slightly stressed even if the flaps have never been opened. However, VGA will refuse to grade Japanese Gameboy Advance games that might look like they've been opened even if they haven't based on these stressed flaps. VGA will also charge you their grading fee even if they don't perform the grading due to the stressed flaps.
The stress may come from overseas shipping since these were sent from Japan nearly 20 years ago or from rubbing against other games in warehouse storage. Putting pressure on the cardboard box on either the front or back will also stress the flaps as the box is even slightly squeezed inwards. We placed these particular copies of Mario Party inside our own heat-sealed acid-free plastic bag about 18 years ago since GBA games are not naturally shrink-wrapped from the factory and we figured adding an extra layer of protection can't hurt.
Using acid-free storage bags ensures that we won't have to re-wrap the games over and over again to avoid acid-buildup in some forms of plastic bags that will leech acid after a five or so in storage.
