Arc the Lad was the first RPG for the Sony Playstation. It featured detailed (albeit Super Famicom quality) graphics, a fairly interesting storyline and standard RPG gameplay. It was okay in other words. Arc the Lad 2 offers more of the same with some interesting additions to the gameplay that will help you along your quest; you can now make money in more interesting ways than just fighting monsters to get it. You can now accept bounties where you go after monsters or criminals to earn a head hunting fee. I would consider some of these bounties as side stories but they will help you along in your quest and some move you towards your ultimate goal. You may also want to check out the 'Wanted' section in town to see if there are any warrants out for criminals and the respective rewards that you will earn if you are man enough to capture the vandal. These were fun additions to the game and helped to give a sense of being able to participate in activites other than working towards just the end game. The capture of a criminal and earning the bounty was very rewarding and provided missions that were like mini-games in themselves. The rest of the game in Arc 2 is regular fare, there is nothing spectacular here but the Arc name is famous by now and RPG fans will undoubtedly enjoy this latest chapter in the Arc saga.
