Saturn Destruction Derby
The Saturn version of the Playstation hit is finally available for the Japanese Saturn. It has been available in the States for more than 2 months but thats okay. We have one pre-order from a devoted Japanese Saturn fan and that one order is good enough for this company. There have been many times in the past when we have ordered games that we knew would not sell but we were inclined to take some quantity due to the nature of our business, namely wholesale to vendors in the states and abroad. Destruction Derby will most likely sell just that one in the States for us and the rest will go out to our stores for rental revenue. That revenue is not significant but its a little something. Now to the game, Destruction Derby is a smash fest where you drive a car and attempt to damage the cars of your fellow drivers to a point where they can no longer run. The last one running is considered the winner though your car will look like hell. So in a way, you can't really consider it winning when your car is a wreck when its all over. The Sony Playstation version was mildly enjoyable. It looked good but the gameplay was rather tedious when you had to knock out about 20 to 30 cars. The Saturn version looks good as well but the action renders the same sense of tedium on me. I know of many people who raved about this game when it first came out but I did not think too highly of it though the graphics are fine.
