Sony Playstation Diehard Trilogy

I try not to judge games by their titles because we really shouldn't rate anything by just its title. When I heard that Diehard Trilogy was coming out for the Sony, I thought of some of the past games that were based on movies and reminesced on how bad they were. There was Judge Dredd on the Super NES and Sega which was a mess, Home Alone on the SNES and Genesis which was abyssmal and E.T. on the Atari 2600 which actually was kind of fun but while the movie was grand, the game itself was a letdown compared to the film. We now have Diehard Trilogy to contend with and its actually pretty good. So, I won't judge games by their titles any more and let go of all of my built-in aversion to games based on movies, games by THQ, and games that have been ported from the PC. More winners could be on the way and I look forward to Warcraft 2 from the PC on the Sony Playstation and I think THQ has some project on the way that looks promising. Diehard Trilogy gives the player a choice of three distinct games that are all playable and well designed. The games are supposed to be based on the Diehard movies where Bruce Willis duked it out with a bunch of bad guys in different locations. The first game takes place in a building and the action is viewed from a 3/4 overhead view. You basically go from room to room and floor to floor, shooting everyone in sight. Theres a lot of blood here when you cap a bad guy and it spills out thick and ketchup-like onto the floors where you tread. The second game is like a good stunner game where you try to shoot at your opponents before they shoot you. I'm not fond of light gun games so I didn't get into it too much but this segment of the disc plays well and looks good. The final installment of the Diehard game has you driving through a city, like in the movie where Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson drove through city streets like total maniacs. It gets pretty wild when you find out that you can run over people who are walking across the street against the light (or otherwise) and see the blood hit your windshield. Parents got angry when they found out about Mortal Kombat and its bloody fights so I wonder if they'll get into the same stir when they find out that you can run over people without going directly to jail in this game. I think people are more tolerant nowadays so I don't think we'll see the same commotion today.
