Ocean's Finalist is a solid looking action-shooter for the Playstation. Your perspective in the game is similar to the one found in countless Doom clones where you look at the action with a first-hand "you are there" view. You travel through corridors and tunnels in search of enemies to target and eventually destroy and to hunt for secret bonuses that you can gather up. The graphics are well detailed and you can see the pipes and beams in the ceilings of the tunnels that you travel in and the objects on the ground which add to the close feeling of travelling in a subterranean tunnel structure. The walls are rendered nicely with bricks and metal structures that line up against the sides of the tunnels. You face an array of enemies whom will attack you from the air and from the ground. Some mechs that I faced were particularly devious and difficult to handle but you can sometimes guesstimate how they will attack and thus learn their patterns and defeat them by evading and then attacking. There were times when the exploration got a little monotonous with you going a long way without greeting any enemies to attack but the suspense and the gameplay balance well enough to warrant a recommend rating for this one. Like the countless Doom clones, there is an auto-map feature that will allow you to see your progress and where you have yet to explore. Fans of Kileak the Blood on the Playstation will find similar material and gameplay in Finalist.
