Sony Playstation Japan Graffiti
Games like Japan Graffiti are surprisingly common on the 32-bit consoles. Its not that they exhibit any revolutionary 3-D routines or graphics but they are popular nevertheless in Japan because of the gameplay. JG is a jigsaw puzzle game where you are presented with a picture which gets scrambled up. You then have to reconstruct the jigsaw puzzle from memory and from the pieces of the puzzle that are presented to you on the top of the screen. So, piece by piece, minute by minute, you put the puzzle back together to whittle away the time. The puzzles feature a variety of cartoon pictures such as mountains, insects, flowers and anime girls. Fans of jigsaw puzzles can now buy a puzzle where you will never lose a piece, never have to fear accidental destruction from a meandering hip and never have to put the jigsaw pieces back into the box. Maybe that is why these things are so popular in Japan but they never caught on here in the States. Perhaps we should advertise and move to change all that.
