Sept. 05, 1997 Journal Entry for September 05, 1997
Today's Date We are only expecting one new stock item next week, Desire for the Sega Saturn.  Desire is another adult oriented (hentai) action-simulation from the masters of the "craft" at Elf.  We should receive this shipment by Wednesday. One title that may get here in time for next week is Silhouette Mirage from Treasure. We have a playable preview demo disc of this game where we can try out about 1/2 of one of the levels. The control is great and the special effects in the game can only be termed pure eye candy. Silhouette Mirage looks to be one of the better platformers on any console this year. If there are any additional updates in terms of new stock, they will be added to the Whats New page during the week. The USA scene looks quiet next week also since Final Fantasy VII will basically garner the lion's share of sales for the next couple of weeks.

The USA Saturn upcoming release schedule is so dismal that it is little wonder that many distributors now under-order every Saturn title that comes out for fear of not selling the stock. This is one reason why games that are hot such as Shining the Holy Ark and Albert Odyssey are in short supply. When they sell out, then everyone scrambles to get more to satisfy the demand. The Saturn import side of our business has boomed recently with a large amount of modification requests  and import game sales. S-Video cables have also been selling very well due to the lack of this accessory in the USA marketplace. The USA Saturn business may be a lost cause but rest assured that the Saturn is doing very well in Japan. I am indifferent to the news of a new console from Sega. It would certainly revitalize their home consumer business and put pressure on Sony but the USA side of Sega needs some marketing primers to keep any momentum going if a new console is introduced. They will also need to make sure that there is at least a steady supply of software so that people don't sell their consoles for a Playstation. In recent time, this problem plagued both the Saturn and Nintendo 64.

In the latest Saturn Fan which arrived yesterday, Sega is preparing Shining Force III for delivery in December. The game looks fantastic with 3-D isometric views and polygon rendered battle scenes. Another cool looking release is a new fightng game from Sunsoft (Waku Waku Seven) called Astra Superstars which looks like a deep-down Neo-Geo title with large player characters and that special Neo look about it.

E-mail ncs@escape.com about anything on this page with your inquiries, pre-orders or reservations of incoming stock. Logo and page design questions and complaints are also welcome.

We have also confirmed the availability of the King of Fighters '97 cartridge on September 30.  The price is set at US$268 for the Japanese version. We should also have the USA version around the same time at US$259. Due to the limited supply of cartridges that are now being produced for all Neo cartridge stock, we must have all pre-orders by September 08. We realize that this is not much of a time window but we were only informed of this pre-order schedule last night. NCS will however keep some stock on hand to cover any any new orders that come in after our pre-order cut-off date.

Another week is over. Time seems to be flying and Christmas is (almost) around the corner. We're getting all the supplies, boxes, tape, etc ready for the holiday rush. Last year, we figured that we would be able to get everything ready for the holidays in the first week of December but got totally swamped in November. Live and learn. A lot of our customers returned to school this past week and we wish all of you a good term/semester.
