Lagunalogo

	Lagunacore is a fine looking RPG from Sony music that places the player in a 3-D world with detailed rooms, expansive outdoors and isometric design worthy of the best that Climax (of Shining Force fame) has to offer.

	The battle interaction scenes are reminescent of the fights from Ogre Battle. Your party stands on one end of a platform as you face off against adversaries on the opposite end of the platform. The active player is indicated by the triple colored rings.

	Party stats are shown in the windows on the top of the screen. Note the beautifully rendered characters and the fine definition afforded to each party member and opponent. The background graphics are also detailed with realistic stonework.

	But thats not all. When opponents engage each other, the view shifts into a close-up of the battle. A physical attack will result in a punch or sword slash that is shown in detail.

	Here we have two more close-up shots of the battles. In the picture to the right, an opponent fends off two attacking party members.

	An RPG wouldn't be an RPG if there were no magical attacks. To the right, a sorceror calls upon the heavens to beam down shafts of destructive light to inflict harm on multiple opponents.

	The usual power-up and level-building options are available for the budding adventurer. To the right, we have an overhead view of two parties getting ready for war in close quarters.

Lagunacore is a surprise release. We did not expect a quality RPG this week but here it is. Laguna mixes a nice blend of game engines for an interesting adventure that is not only fun to play but interesting to look at. The battle scenes are beautifully orchestrated and the quality of the outdoor scenes are highly reminescent of one of the best 3-D action-adventures, Dark Saviour. Recommended.
