NCS will only be stocking the special limited set of Der Langrisser III which includes a fan book that looks at the characters in the game and the voice actors who supply their dialogue. The regular edition of DL3 will not contain this fan booklet. The limited set also comes with a stunning 3-D holographic(?) cover that is rendered in full color. We would show you a picture of this cover but the effect just doesn't come out on a jpeg. I use the term 'holographic' with a question mark for want of a better term because the cover is not a true hologram. A hologram can be viewed from any angle and usually shows differences in detail depending on which angle you are looking at it from. The DL3 cover features the regular cover but the two women characters, Luna and Lishi appear in the forefront while Dyhalto, the guy with the really spiky hair is in the background. The 3-D effect is very good and the special cover is a nice bonus for this limited set. The game and its graphics are reminescent of this past spring's Dragon Force from Sega. Langrisser has both animated sequences and detailed battles where you face off against your adversaries. One extra touch that the programmers have put into the battles is the change in your opponent's face should he/she lose a fight. It will be bruised and purply looking if they lose so there is no doubt as to who is triumphant. The animations in the game introduce the many different scenarios to the player and help to move the storyline along. There is quite a bit of dialogue that goes on between your characters and your opponents which will let you in on the dramas circling each battle. Langrisser is a popular title in Japan and this Saturn version is considered a major release over there. The game has been rated highly by Japanese publications and should sell well in Japan and in the States. Click here to look at Masaya's reseller promotional sheet for the game.
