Bio-Hazard 2
(US$60) came in yesterday for the Playstation. Capcom brings back the horror with an
adventure that is wider in scope and grander in detail. Multiple enemies on-screen at once
are a common dilemna as you battle leagues of shuffling zombies with their outstretched
arms and stumbling gait. SONYPS Bomberman World (US$58), Snow Break (US$58) and restock on Gran Turismo (US$60) also arrived
yesterday. Turismo will be further restocked next week since demand for the game
is...huge. |

The Saturn version
of Dead or Alive was restocked this week at US$52. We also have restock on the Saturn
4-in-1 card (all tested to work before shipping) with 4MB of ram at US$29 and some PC-FX
restock: Graduation II (US$49), Queen of Queens (US$49), Last Impreial Prince (US$68) and
finally Battle Heat (US$49). The Saturn 4-in-1 card will run X-Men vs Street Fighter and a
majority of the 1 MB ram card games from SNK. |

Panzer Dragoon
Azel (US$58) is in stock this week for the Sega Saturn. Azel follows in
the tradition of Panzer Dragoon but with the added depth of an actual adventure where you
can interact with citizens of the realm and level-up your dragon. The new adventure spans
four discs, which is a first for a Saturn game. The USA version of Panzer Dragoon Azel is
not expected until March 1998 and we should have enough stock for the Japanese version to
last us through the spring. |

Chaos Seed
(US$49) is now in stock. The game looks incredible with sharp, very
detailed graphics and a party member that looks oddly like Pikachu of Pocket Monsters
fame. Also in stock this week: SATURN GunBlaze S
(US$58), Noon (US$40), Farland Saga
(US$58) and SONYPS Konami Antiques Vol. 2
(US$49). GunBlaze is an adult adventure game that is limited for sale to our older
audience. Most of the adult material is in the form of animation sequences that are
interspersed within the game. GunBlaze ships with a slick paper
folder similar to the one included with Soul Hackers. |

Magazine shipments resumed this past Monday. We also have two
special Gamest mooks that came in with the magazines. The first is a new Gals Island volume (US$25) which looks at all of the
women and girls found in videogames today. We're treated to a diverse group which range
from Bulleta (Vampire Saviour) to Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken 3) to the
women warriors from SNK's upcoming Last Blade game. A poster of Lilith and Bulleta from VS
is a bonus inside the volume. The second special Gamest mook is one of the nicest we've
seen in a long while. Gamest Vol. 112: The Best Game (US$35)
gives us full page/half page info and screenshots from popular games both past and present
such as Rayforce, Tekken 3 and KoF'97. A bonus is the Atari 25th anniversary section with
mini screenshots of the original ads from all of Atari's arcade releases from Pong in
11/72 to Major Havoc in 11/83 to Maximum Force and S.F. Rush last year. Very interesting. |

Lei-Fang, from Dead or Alive looks
so comfortable that we couldn't bear to take her away. In today's
journal, we take another glance at Gran Turismo and check out Bio-Hazard 2. It is
likely that Capcom has edited Resident Evil 2 to remove some of the more gruesome scenes.
We don't believe that they have done so to reflect the softer sensibilities of American
gamers who are not prepared to handle ambulatory corpses and their eventual dismemberment.
One explanation may be that editing is necessary to placate any active consumer or
religious groups who might be offended by the violence and thus, impose a boycott or
something equally inane and unproductive. |
