DC Mod Update 11:59AM
NCS will update members of the DC mod mailing list over the weekend on a new
chip revision that will be easier to install. Sega have recently updated the DC IC501 bios
rom on new consoles in America, Asia, Japan, and Europe. This new rom disables the current
batch of DC mod chips but it is not known if this was done with the specific intention of
disabling the mod chip or if it was a procedural update that just happened to affect the
mod chip. All existing DC consoles shipped before last week will still work with
the current chip revision but new DC consoles that were shipped last week will
not work at all with the chip. A solution will be made available within the next couple of
days to address the problem but to re-iterate so that we are not inundated with e-mail, this
should not affect you if you have purchased your Dreamcast months ago. Please
wait for the NCS mailing over the weekend as we will cover most potential questions and
point you towards a new revision of the NCS DC Mod FAQ. Perhaps this is why NCS relies on
reprogrammable logic... |
