2 April 2001 Primer |

Eleven
new products have shown up on the April 2001 PS2 roster of
imports. A 56K modem from Konami is listed for March 29 at a
hefty Y15,000 (~US$128). Called "Viaggio",
Italian vernacular for traveller, the package includes the
modem, a USB cable, a module cable and browser software. This
flies in the face of Sun-Denshi's own modem efforts on the PS2
dubbed "Online Station" and also scheduled to ship
in March. It is unknown at this time if Ergosoft's Playstation
2 browser will be used in Konami's modem package.
In a bid to resuscitate their PS2 street
credibility after the horrible Sky Surfer and under-whelming
Mechsmith, Idea Factory lists two promising PS2 titles for
April: Generation of Chaos (listed as Torikomi
Paradise) and Gun Hearts. The former is touted as a
tactical adventure game with action sequences during battles
while the latter is listed as a 3-D fighting 'n shooting
action title. With these two games given dates in April, all
that remains in the pipeline for IF is Global Folktale, a dark
and somber adventure slated for this summer. Perhaps Tobal No.
3 will be an option when the think tank starts up again for
new productions to undertake.
Dream Audition and Greatest Striker players who
have a PS2 microphone on hand will see another mic game in
April named Super Micchan which appears to be a voice
commandeered action game. Other titles listed for April
include Artdink's Basic Studio 2 at Y9800, Rayman
Revolution from Ubisoft, Enterbrain's romance series True
Love Story 3 and Armored Core 2: Another Age by
Fromsoft. Capping all this, Spike plans to release three
volumes of Golf Netvigator in April, an internet ready
golfing sim at Y4800 per volume. True Love Story 3 was
originally a March 2001 title but slips to April.
NCS will append our upcoming import PS2 schedule
in the next couple of days once all eleven products are given
specific shipping dates. Pre-orders will also start up at that
time via online shop and by e-mail request. |

April 2001 schedule. Some notables include Gear Fighter
Dendou from Bandai, Time Crisis: Project Titan
(Namco), Bounty Hunter Sarah from Capcom, and Victory
Horror Collection: Vampire Hunter D by Victory. Twilight
Express delays their Happy Diet to April 26, lifestyle
software which helps gamers follow a diet and exercise regimen
to keep in shape. Re-releases at lower prices in April include
Power Dolls 2 from ASCII and Hiryu no Ken Dash by
Culture Brain. A complete listing of April's PS1 import should
be ready for general posting by next week. |

A
general Dreamcast schedule for April had been posted overnight
for release to vendors but there are many TBA and TBD dates on
the listing. As such, NCS will hold off on the Dreamcast
roster until we have a better idea of when things are shipping
in April. An vendor update is pending so we'll flesh out the
details soon.
