A 5-wire import lockout solution is now available for the Dreamcast. This
chip essentially replaces the current 26-wire mod for all current and future orders.
Customers who have previously ordered the DC mod chip will have their orders shipped
today. New orders for the 5-wire revision of the DC mod chip will ship tomorrow morning.
Note that the hot spot on pin 28 of the IC501 that gave some installers problems is still
active on this mod so solder with caution and follow the guidelines offered by NCS.
Pricing remains at US$35 and new on-line
orders may be placed today for shipping tomorrow.
Members of the NCS DC mod mailing list will updated later today on the
current revision. There was no mailing over the weekend.
NCS would also like to take a moment to dispel the rumor that the USA
version of Crazy Taxi is incompatible with the previous 26-wire and the
current 5-wire chip. This game has been tested extensively on Asian, Japanese, and
American consoles with both versions of the chip with no problems. NCS has taken the
liberty to test the latest Sega import and domestic software available on the market with
the mod revisions and have found no issues. Thank you.
