Final Fantasy VIII Shipped
Our company's first couple of shipments of Square's Final Fantasy VIII were dispatched overnight. NCS expects to take delivery on Wednesday. Reports from our suppliers indicate no new encryption on the discs. The game is playable through standard ways and means. NCS will however test FFVIII just to make sure and we'll update this information if we find any discrepancy on our Playstation consoles.
Street Fighter Zero Figures
A set of five official Street Fighter Zero 2 figures arrived today. Note the Zero 2 label and not Zero 3. Although these figures are new to the market, it appears Capcom is catching up on their figure production by releasing Zero 2 figures. The five fighters in stock are: Chun-Li, Gouki, Ken, Ryu and Sakura. Each figure measures roughly 8" in length and are clothed in their trademark threads. The Gouki figure includes a necklace of wooden beads and a fiery stalk that protrudes from the top of his head. The quality is excellent and the figures are very striking to look at. Each: US$38.
Dreamcast Keychain
A perfect mini replica of the Dreamcast console coupled with linked chain. Chalk white in color and true to scale with Sega's new gaming machine. The detailing includes the Dreamcast logo and text on the front, indentations for the buttons, an indentation for the modem port and joypad ports. No lights however, that detail was scrapped from the production run. In stock at US$3.00.
   Everything Else
Yen Equilibrium
Stable dollar/yen forex session with the rate locked at Y113.7 per dollar. Japanese officials appear to want the dollar to grow stronger and the next couple of weeks will be interesting to watch. Goldman takes an opposing view of the dollar/yen and is calling for a heated decline to ~Y106. In a perfectly efficient world, that may very well happen but the world, much less the markets, is imperfect.
Web Lock
The coding for the new update pages have been cleaned up and Netscape users should no longer experience a 4-8 second lock when loading a new page. The stoppage may still occur on some NSCP configurations but it should only last 2-3 seconds. Internet Explorer and Web-TV browsers do not appear to exhibit the lock.
Capital Markets
Globex was strong and we'll get the pop that we were looking for today. Would like to see the buying sustained throughout the day but we are looking for a strong week as money flows pour back into the market. We'll let positions ride through the next 2 weeks although we may add trailing stops if our minimum levels are met. Upside target for the SPX is +50 points on our positions opened at SPX 1248 and +60 points on positions opened at SPX 1238. Our minor hedge with the RUT puts is working well. When the market drops, the Russell drops in tandem but when the market pops, the RUT goes up less than the other major indexes. It's the weakling brother of the market. The perfect hedge for nimble traders.
