Xenogears (US$60) was stocked yesterday for the Sony
Playstation. The quality of the game is superb with beautiful animation sequences, music
and solid control as you maneuver around the world. The use of animation as opposed to
rendered CG movies is a nice departure from the norm. Square has another top notch winner
in Xeno and lives up to the hype once again. The
Star Bowling (US$49) from Yumedia also came in yesterday which is a cartoony
bowling game in the style of King of Bowling found on the Playstation. Bowling games are
far and few between and this one should satiate any demand for the sport of bowling for at
least another year. |

One of our staunch PC-E vendors
found a large supply of PC-Engine wireless
joypads ($25) and we took delivery of the shipment yesterday. We've been sold
out of these for years so we're glad to be able to offer them to our PC-Engine customer
base once more. Each package contains a single wireless joypad and a receiver that plugs
into your PC-Engine, PC-Engine Duo or Duo-RX. The receiver runs off of 4 AA batteries and
provides reliable operation for roughly a month on a set of batteries. Note that the
receiver is not pin compatible with the Turbo Graphx or the Turbo-Duo. Note to resellers:
each carton contains five receiver/pad sets. |

One new Saturn release came in
earlier in the week: Tamagotchi Park
(US$68) from Bandai. The package includes a 4 MB ram cartridge for saving your game data.
The ram cartridge may be used as a standard memory card for other games as well.
Tamagotchi has been one of the more popular diversions in recent history and is
responsible for creating a new market for digital hand held pets. We witnessed hundreds of
clones and derivatives on the Tamagotchi idea last year. Thankfully, many of those clone
pets have died off while Tamagotchi lives on. The Saturn version of Tamagotchi features
the virtual pets in various games and puzzles that are tied together by a simple boardgame
format. We also have restock for the Saturn version of Dead or Alive (US$52) which
continues to sell well. |

A total of 10 magazines is available this week and all subscriptions have
been sent out. New single issue orders are welcome. Playstation Magazine and Saturn Fan
actually arrived last Friday so subscriptions for those two magazines have been dispatched
already. This week's Gamest magazine takes an initial look at Capcom's most recent
fighter: Marvel vs Capcom which pits a diverse group against each other. Capcom's
legendary Strider returns in this game with metal dog in tow. Very cool. |

In today's journal, we take a look at a shipment of magazines that
came in earlier than expected. Neo-Geo Freak (February '98) is now in stock as well as
Sega Saturn Magazine and the usual weekly periodicals. Please note that we are trying to
increase our quantities of Neo-Geo Freak with our vendor but we placed our pre-order
quantities 6 months ago for the entire year of 1998. We were unprepared for the demand...
Also today, we check out some screenshots of Marvel vs Capcom, we'll have our first JAMMA
next week. |
