Guilty Gear Petit |
Scans |
Little
bruisers in SD form may look a mere buck 'o five but they
still fight it out like normal-sized champions. Arc System's
dazzling Guilty Gear franchise jumps from the recent Dreamcast
version to the Wonderswan Color and quickly grabs the title of
first ever WSC fighting game. The game compares favorably to
the best looking NGP fighters and the backgrounds shine with
detail.
Select characters return to the fray but many
from the DC version are missing. The bounty
hunter known as Sol Badguy shrinks from lean killing machine
to squat elf. The biceps still bulge just as big however in
elfin guise. Ky Kiske, May, Millia Rage, Potemkin, and a new
girl named Fancy (the one sporting the mega syringe) clash
wills in this petite version of Gear. May's titanic anchor swing and blue
porpoise attack makes the trip back to mix in with the other
mighty moves such as Millia's hair whip and Po's general
smashing. |

Wonder Classic |

The
video game publishing world never needed Tiger as a figurehead
to goad them into making golfing sims. Amex needs him to push
credit cards but video gaming has been mushing all along with
golf. The game of virtual links has been around since the
early boom in the 80s and it's a tradition that will continue
for the generations ahead.
Namco's latest foray into the green does away
with the recent popularity of "big-head" golfers and
plays it straight. Wonder Classic could easily pass for a
16-bit Nintendo golfing sim and mimics many of the later ones
including "Hole in One Golf" and "Wicked
18". First, survey the area and check the wind to
determine how the air will affect your direction of attack.
Next, shuffle your feet and plant yourself properly, tilt your
body, gauge the power of your swing and let loose. If your
formula is good, you might be an eagle. If your brand of magic
just isn't suited for golf, perhaps your destiny is more on
the scale of caddie duty. |

Changes Distribution |
Shooter |
| Along
with the recent moves made by Sega in the product lines they
will support, distribution in Japan and Asia for Dreamcast
software and Sega software in general has been shaken up. The
channels have changed and some suppliers have been removed
from the mix entirely. The shift was last minute and has
already affected delivery of newly released product this week.
Nevermind that goods were already paid for and promised months
beforehand. As such, NCS' shipments of Hundred Swords
and Aero Dancing I are now expected on Monday morning.
Next week's new releases may also be affected but we'll know
the status by Monday. |

Sega's
incursion into the Playstation and Gameboy Advance arena seems to warrant a changing of the guard. New distribution
agreements appear to be afoot where DC, PS, and GBA product
lines are consolidated and supplied to only a few companies in
Japan. This may result in operating efficiencies for Sega.
Maybe.
