Dreamcast Keychain
Our initial allotment of DC keychains have sold out but we are expecting restock later this week when the item is reproduced. Orders submitted in the past couple of days and this week will be reserved until the stock arrives. Thanks.
Final Fantasy VIII Products
A number of customers have asked if we will carry FFVIII items that were not listed in the two galleries that we posted last week. Note that the items that were posted are products that we can source from distribution in Japan. Other items such as the leather jacket with the woolly collar (Y49800; US$436 ) and the leather pants with the three buckles on the right leg (Y39800; US$349) will be considered but there are minimums on all goods and we doubt if we can wrestle up 10 customers that want to buy these pieces of clothing. There is a package deal for the jacket and the pants - if you buy both, the package price is only Y88000 or US$771. You save Y1600 (US$14).
Dreamcast Preview Disc
Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered Dreamcast Magazine for the week of 03/19. Pre-orders will close at the end of business today but everyone that submits a reservation request this afternoon will be guaranteed a copy. NCS will ship the magazine on 03/08 to our customers. To clarify pricing, normal subscribers will not be charged extra since they are within our usual allotment of issues. Single issue orders and new orders will be charged at US$15 + US$3.20 postal priority shipping per copy.
   Everything Else
Lunar New Year
Many companies in Asia will take a three day vacation to celebrate the Lunar New Year starting tonight. This year's representative animal is the Hare, or the Rabbit. The Year of the Rabbit portends peace and reconciliation. Global conflicts will be settled and houses will be put in order. So goes the lore since peace, in practice, may not be so simple. The year 1999 by itself is considered a good year since 9 is a lucky number if you subscribe to the theories of feng shui. 9 also sounds like longevity if spoken phonetically in Chinese. Perhaps the economies in Asia will take this cue and rebound from their respective recessions and financial woes this year. Business should be back to normal in Asia by Friday, February 19th.
Dreamcast T-Shirt & Cap
The popular DC t-shirt and cap ensemble have been restocked today at US$25. This time around, we only have the set in black. This will be our last shipment for this quarter since supplies are difficult to find now and a reproduction seems unlikely. We will restock this item if supplies are available in the spring and summertime.
Express Mail Shipping
Our company would like to publicly answer a couple of complaints regarding our use of Express Mail Service on Friday to ship Final Fantasy VIII. In most cases, the service delivered the game to our customers before 12:00PM and others before 03:00PM on Saturday. There were some mishaps where Express Mail failed miserably and did not deliver on Saturday but on Sunday. For a couple of cases, Express Mail appears to have lost some parcels since we are unable to get tracking information on them. This is inexcusable but it also happens from time to time with all couriers. We will attempt to track these parcels today and see if they finally show up on USPS' tracking systems. EMS is usually reliable but some customers had their weekends ruined because the service failed in their case. We chose to use EMS because they have the ability to deliver on Sundays. If UPS or Fedex miss a Saturday delivery commitment, they will try again on Monday. EMS allows for some leeway when there is an unexpected contingency but they will usually still deliver within the weekend. It was a judgement call on our part to go with EMS to try and salvage our delayed shipment of FFVIII. If you must lay your blame and vent, heap it upon our account at ncx@ix.netcom.com. Nothing works perfectly, no matter how much we try to avoid problems, and for that we sincerely apologize.
Capital Markets
No trading session today but sentiment is bearish. Globex futures closed slightly negative this morning and the bias is to sell positions. This week being options expiry may skew things or magnify moves up and down. It will be interesting and short term direction will be decided with tomorrow's session. Europe and Japan should provide general direction until Tuesday's open.
