Konami 80s Arcade Gallery
   Imports
Konami Arcade
10 of Konami's classic arcade games from the 80s will be collected in one volume for the Playstation on May 13. Konami 80's Arcade Gallery will contain: Circus Charlie, Gyruss, Pooyan, Road Fighter, Rock 'n Rope, Scramble, Shaolin's Road, Super Cobra, Time Pilot, and Yie Ar Kung Fu. Unlike the MSX Antiques collection of games which ported over MSX versions of the arcade originals, Konami's Arcade Gallery will port over the original code of their arcade classics. Pre-orders are welcome.
Tangent: Much has been debated about the so-called legality of emulation and this is one of the reasons why software companies should have complete control over the distribution of their code. Konami and any other publisher should be able to compile their classics into a volume and derive revenue and profit from them. Plain and simple, Konami holds the copyright. What some rom traders fail to understand is that although some games may be ancient, copyright law still bounds ownership, control, and distribution rights to the copyright holder. The exception would be when the copyright owner grants permission to distribute their code in the public domain.
Playstation May 1999
Konami has also announced Virgin Fleet for the Playstation to ship on May 20. VF is a multi-scenario anime adventure with action sequences. NCS will post the Playstation May schedule in early March once all titles are compiled.
   Everything Else
Yen Equilibrium
Japanese officials talked down the yen and the dollar quickly rocketed to Y118.9 in a single session. NCS may have to recalibrate our target pivot points over the next two weeks to see if a new equilibrium has been established. There is no rush to enter positions at this point since the forex will be volatile as the market seeks a new balance between dollar and yen.
Capital Markets
Another disappointing trading session on Tuesday. Strength gave way to weakness as sellers swamped buyers during the afternoon. NCS' short RUT positions are now 4 points in the money and every point drop in the Russell will be magnified by 20 points of profit in our 20 March 400 puts. Our YHOO puts are in the money while AMZN is nearing a profit point. Our single NDX put is deep in the money but our BKX short backfired. Banks are rallying in the face of a general downdraft but we are keeping this position despite breaking our levels. We'll forego discipline just this once since we believe in the BKX short. The capital mining in the other positions will bear the brunt of any further BKX moves. The counterbalance to the short positions is our long SPH futures at 1228 and 1238 which are in the money by 13 and 3 points respectively. No changes for now since we have staked strong positions and see little need to trade in and out. There is confusion and indecision in the market - both buyers and sellers are nervous which suits our positions to a tee.
