Gamera joins Dreamcast
In the beginning, there was the Godzilla VMS. It was green, limited in numbers and existed in a time before the inception of the Dreamcast. Next came the Mothra VMS with a quaint three-headed dragon figure. On March 25, the monstrous VMS' will be joined by the legendary turtle (or is it a tortoise?) known as Gamera. Sega's Gamera VMS will include a neat little figure that packed in a box with the VMS. A mini Gamera growth game will be specialized in the VMS. Retail is priced at US$35 and pre-orders are welcome.
Clear Blue Saturn
Following in the footsteps of last year's Skeleton Saturn, Sega will release a blue tinted Skeleton Saturn on March 25. Prices remain high (for just a new shell) at Y20,000 per unit but aficionados will likely snap these up at the same brisk rate as the original Skeleton Saturn. Perhaps we'll see these on EBAY a few years down the line bidding at US$1,000. If a Furby can command such a premium, a limited edition Saturn should follow in spades. Pre-orders are welcome but supplies will be very limited.
DC Puru Puru Pack
Sega's vibrating accessory for the DC joypad will ship out of Japan on March 04, which makes delivery for this week unlikely. Reservations will ship next Monday. Customers who have ordered a Puru along with games such as Psychic Force, Puyo Puyo, etc that are expected tomorrow will have their software orders shipped automatically on Wednesday unless you give us instructions to hold them and wait for the Puru to ship together.
Dreamcast Magazines
The latest issues of DC Fan and DC Magazine offers their ratings for tomorrow's new Dreamcast games as follows:
Dreamcast Fan
Aero Dancing 9 9 8
Mahjong 2 Taikai 6 6 7
Psychic Force 2012 8 9 8
Puyo Puyo 7 7 8
Dreamcast Magazine

   Everything Else
Yen Equilibrium
The dollar has elevated itself over Y120 and rests on Y120.6 - equilibrium is found wanting. The Euro continues to sink and we're fortunate that we did not attempt to trade it a few weeks ago because it would've be wholesale slaughter. There is no floor and the market is testing the lower levels and fishing for buyers.
Argh...On-Line Commerce
Just when we thought we had found a fairly good merchant solution, we find that we hate the layout that is imposed on associate merchants. The feature set is great because UPS rates are calculated automatically and customers can track their packages. The customer log-in feature is also cool but the the template layout and the text for their check-out forms is horrible. We've asked them to allow us to design and implement our own code but it's still up in the air. NCS will however go with this solution for now since we have to get some sort of on-line commerce going. We will have the store up by the end of this week, it won't be a complete catalog but customers will be able to order all Dreamcast products from it. In the meantime, we will continue to look for something that we have full control of, including the core html and layout. Our old website man works at a marketing firm that specializes in web commerce and we'll meet with them one day to discuss custom programming rates and coding for the NCS site.
Sega Restock Product
V-Saturn consoles, a popular item, will be restocked tomorrow after yesterday's quick sell-out. NCS can modify the V-Saturn with a toggle switch so that the user can boot import and domestic software.
Capital Markets
Tough market to gauge. It's all so tentative and noncommittal. Buying strength is still used as a selling opportunity to exit positions. Our favorite whipping boy, the Russell 2000, is showing surprising strength and is 2-3 points away from regaining RUT400. We would love to get another chance to short this index at 417~423 but we would never ride it on the way up since it breaks down easily. The Russell magnifies the weakness of the overall market when the selling hits hard and fast. Weak hands tremble when the market plummets and small caps are the first to get dumped. The SPX is comfortably above the support of 1228 but not by much. We consider the SPX's current level at 1237 to be a nice pivot point but it can go either way - the Dow will lead it up or down. We'll look for an oscilloscope pattern today - up and down....
