| The solder side of the Dreamcast
pcboard is shown to the right. In order to toggle an NTSC Dreamcast to PAL video output,
the user will have to add a jumper to location R422. The solder points in question are
indicated by the yellow square outline in the picture. A simple jumper that one can use is
a piece of wrapping wire that is soldered to both points. Once this wire is added to the
pcboard, your Dreamcast will only output PAL video. This may present a problem when trying
to play Japanese or American games that are NTSC based if your monitor is not capable of
displaying PAL and NTSC. |
| NCS' suggestion: Install a SPDT
switch to toggle between PAL and NTSC modes of operation. There are no ideal locations on
the DC case to mount an external switch but the area in the front of the DC, where
it reads "Compatible with WinCE" is suitable for a micro-switch. With the DC Mod
Chip installed and a video toggle switch outfitted, all software will load and display
properly on any NTSC Dreamcast if your television or monitor is PAL/NTSC capable. |
