Armored Core 2 ~ Another Age |
Scans
|
After the terra-forming of Mars and suffering the destructive
uprising led by Leos Klein in the episodes of AC1/AC2, the
mercenary forces known as Ravens ride again to take advantage
of the strife between corporate powers and an overbearing
Earth government. Wide ranging chaos pushes profit potential
as far as mech mercs are concerned. The intro of the game
shows various Ravens serving the coup de grace on a number of
strike missions. One bruiser imparts a dramatic sword
slash to destroy a mobile tin can and another Core fires off a pair of
missiles which unleash a buzzing hornets nest of guided
projectiles which radiate outward and seek bedazzled targets.
The intro concludes with a John Woo-esque standoff between two
Ravens who stand thisclose opposite each other with guns
drawn.
Another Age features 100 varied missions and mega
parts combination capabilities estimated at 10 billion
possible mixes, remixes, and rehashes of robot design. Clamp
wiry arms onto your metal torso and give it mobility with
treads or color your mech metal with the hues of the rainbow.
Other AA claims to fame include network support (apparently,
the modems are due next month) and the ability to use mechs
already bulked up from the original Armored Core 2 for a quick
ride to the top of the Raven food chain.

Sports Jam receives the
equivalent of "Dendo Silver" with 7,7,7 across the
board in the review section of the latest DCM. The other new
game this week, Angel Present, grabs an average of 6.0. An
article on the X-Box's showing at the Tokyo Game Show 2001
generally underwhelms but Dead or Alive 3 struts and
supplies saving grace.
A preview on Sonic Adventure 2 reveals a new
character named "Shadow the Hedgehog" who plays dark
foil to Sonic's cheery blue. Rouge the Bat, another newcomer,
bats her eyelashes against other sexy video game sirens. World
Advanced 2001 also receives a sizable preview with looks at
the background story, the improved game interface, and the new
Map Edit function where players create their own theatres of
war and fire fights.
Sakura Taisen 3 saw release about 3 weeks ago and
DCM begins the mook-like coverage with no less than 20 pages
of guidance, background on the scenarios, cinemas, and maps.
The issue foregoes any arcade coverage but we do get a
Japanese toy roundup of new product and "Dream A
Girl" checks out Japanese singer Manami Ono.

Protective Plastic Casing |

Dust is an enemy. Nigh invisible, it wafts through the air and
sets upon unsuspecting targets, turning the tidy unsightly.
Given time, dust eventually masks the beauty of things, hiding
them under a pervasive film of movable muck. In electronics,
the screens of many handheld devices - Palm Pilot, Cassiopeia,
Neo Geo Pocket - are prime victims. Just because the Gameboy Advance
is so pretty and new doesn't mean that something as mundane as
motes of dust won't muss it up. Protect your investment from
pollen, airborne particles and other annoyances with this
protective casing which houses your GBA in the safe confines
of flexible plastic. An added bonus: You can't smudge the
screen with greasy fingers or scratch it with unkempt
fingernails when a plastic sheath proves to be an impenetrable
barrier.

Manufacturer Gametech calls their product a
"Protect-Sheet" but we humbly disagree. It protects
nothing integral on the GBA but really just adds a decorative
sheen to the face of any Gameboy Advance. Eight sticker styles
are available but two styles are included with every packet.
The image scans are posted today but they're fairly large and
taken directly from the packaging material for this product.
The water style is shown to the right and it's packed in with
another sticker which radiates red flame upwards, towards a
silver top portion. Niche, cult, etc define this
product.
