 DC Angel Present

Scans

Unrelated to the similarly named PS2 game from Nippon Ichi, NEC tackles girl adventuring in Angel Present. There is no love involved, no romance, no petulant responses from targets of your virtual affection. The girls in Angel Present start out in a modern Japanese city and span the world and underworld in an action-adventure game reminescent of the format found in the Saturn version of Bakeretsu Hunter. Helped in their quest by a naked angel (carefully arranged feathers and strategically folded arms help maintain her dignity), bosses ranging from gargoyle-like creatures to animated pumpkins are dispatched by girl empowered attacks and pyrotechnic blasts. In stock today US$65.

 PS2 Basic Studio

Scans

Cheap camcorder/video equipment gave the Joe Sixpacks of the world a window of opportunity into the art of film making. Untapped vision and talent, otherwise invisible, would be unleashed and discovered by the ubiquity of gear. Basic Studio works on this premise but admittedly, one must already have programming skills in order to flesh out a creation and build it into an actual, playable game. I.e, Joe Sixpack better stick to movies. All the tools to get you started on the road to becoming the next Romero or Carmack are here including a polygon modeler to render 3-D characters, a digital easel to draw beings pixel by pixel, and a music composer to add aural atmosphere. A basic language shell and a compiler round out the tools to bind all of the elements together for you to break out the next big thing.

 Dreamcast Magazine Vol. 12

Summary

Publisher Kid's "Close to" ranks highest with an 8.33 in the reviews section of this issue of DCM. Konohana: True Report follows closely by earning a 7.33 average. Happy Lesson falters with a middling 4.0 score. DCM checks out X-Box by interviewing Tomonobu Itagaki of Tecmo and showing off some screenshots from the upcoming Dead or Alive 3.  Ed Fries of Microsoft is also interviewed and a photo of the X-Box and Mr. Fries shows just how big the console is. Think of 3DO multiplayer size with a ghastly yellow sticker on top.
Sonic Adventure 2 coverage continues and we view some levels with classical sounding Sega Sonic names such as Dry Lagoon, Iron Gate, and Sand Ocean. Flipping forward, the running Sakura 3 guide delves into the game with useful hints, scenario information, and character studies. Towards the back of the magazine, Arcade Express looks at Vampire Night, a coin-op cooperation between Namco and Sega.

 GBA Sun Filter

Photo

The sun showers heat and light on the inner planets of the solar system. On Earth, Sol powers plants with the energy and impetus they need to photosynthesize, thereby creating a food chain and ensuring surface dwellers their food supply. Without this solar source of energy, all planets would fall barren, at least on the surface.
But that's not why you're here. All that sun talk just don't matter the least bit. All you know is the sun is beating down hot and heavy today. Sitting on a park bench, you just want to spend some quality time with Super Mario Advance and the sun bears down like a thug on your GBA screen. Shiny, glaring, sparkling sun bouncing mad rays. What to do?
Sun Filter that shine. A thin sheet of non-reflective plastic slides on top of your GBA screen and does wonders to cut down glare. Enjoy the benefit of the sun's brightness, without the blinding inconvenience. In other words, escape the madness. As an added bonus, at no additional cost, the Sun Filter also works overtime to protect the GBA screen from scratches, fingerprints, dust, soda pop and other ruinous substances. Sun Filter. US$6.50.
