| EMS'
previously announced all-territory DVD decoder for the
Playstation 2 launches on May 7. The decoder contains 1M of
save ram for use with the PS1 portion of the PS2 and code to
allow unrestricted viewing of regionalized DVDs. The routine
to load DVDs appears convoluted but it goes something like
this:
|
| Install
current mod chip (Don't ask NCS about this)
|
| Insert
Action Replay utility disc
|
| Swap
AR disc with ISO image from EMS' site (CD-R)
|
| Insert
any region DVD
|
|
The first version of the decoder will only work with Japanese
PS2 consoles (All SCPH-1x000 models) and the European
territory SCPH-30004.

GT3 Update |

Gran Turismo 3
A-Spec appears to be slated for Monday morning. At this time,
we are unsure of the final quantity that we will receive but
NCS should be able to fill most pre-orders next week. If there
are any changes to this expectation, we will update
accordingly. It's never a good thing when we have to negotiate
and wrangle with suppliers to get prepaid pre-orders of stock
but that's the nature of the beast. If there are further
supply shocks over the course of the next day, rest assured
that secondary shipments of GT3 are slated for next week in
any case. Again, everything we know up to this point is
contained herein and e-mailing or calling NCS on the matter
will yield nothing further. We would like to know more but our
vendors and suppliers are upset and communication isn't great
when they're bogged down and have to deal with something like
this.
