Final Fantasy X Limited Edition Cancelled? |
Waffle
|
According
to overseas vendors, Square is apparently rethinking the
so-called high-quality Limited Edition of Final Fantasy X and may delay
the deluxe version, change it in some way, or cancel it outright. Finalized pre-order
solicitations received overnight seem to weigh in favor of
cancellation as the limited
edition is no longer listed on reservation schedules from any
of our suppliers in Japan or in Asia.
If the limited edition does go the way of the
Dodo, we will shift all pre-orders for this game to the
regular edition which may contain the "high quality"
version in any case with the 2 DVD set. More details from NCS once we
clarify with suppliers or when Square issues an official
announcement, affirmation, or revocation of the original
news.

The
fairness or perhaps ethics of releasing a regular "low
quality" edition and a more expensive "high
quality" version of Final Fantasy X may have led to the
release changes but this is all speculation at this point.
The perception of purchasing an inferior product at a fairly
high price (Y8800) evokes the term "tough sell" for
legions of fans.

2 July 2001 Import Schedule |
Restock

The complete PS2
roster for July has finalized and pre-orders are now
welcome for all products by e-mail
request or online
shop. Tetsu-One Train Battle from publisher Syscom does
a Densha! type action game by taking a single locomotive car
and throwing you into a high speed racer where you'll get
bumped and swiped by other trains as you dash from locale to
locale. Piposaru 2001 reprises the Ape Escape action of
simian capture and Growlanser 2 DX gains steam as a hot
offering based on pre-orders received by NCS thus far. July's
star attraction Final Fantasy X is slated to receive
the lion's share of business and trade, as usual. A new Gundam
0079 real-time simulation from Bandai looks interesting.

After a month or so of delays, the set of three polyester Onimusha
wall scrolls are due to arrive this week. Sakura trading cards
may ship next week. A small quantity of Evangelion
Memorial Box 1/60 scale models is also scheduled this
week. This product appears to be the EVA Perfect Grade box
from Bandai which is based on the End of Evangelion
movie.

This year's
EEE show starts on Wednesday and heads into Saturday.
Gamecube's expected splash at the show and the ensuing ripple
action looks to upstage most everything else.
