The world
is all about cards as far as Wild Card is concerned. From the
party members to the monsters to the weapons, everything gets
representation via thin slices of colored cardboard. Assemble a
cadre of five warriors and utilize the game's "Card
Construction System" to open up new missions and tangents
during your adventure. There is no world map to travel through and
scenario cards provide the paths into new roaming and exploration.
Monster encounters are fought with decks of magic and weaponry
cards, each with a hit value. Special technique cards may also be
flipped during battles to enhance attacks. Exotic attacks and
stronger cards may be found as you progress deeper into the game.
Exquisite artwork by Akihiko Yoshida of Tactics Ogre
fame embellishes the presentation of Wild Card and the WSC handles
fine details and character features very well. |
