Yen Equilibrium
/ 09:05AM
The dollar/yen moved down to Y123.70 overnight so we're on our way to
parity. Mr. Yen expressed some helpful sentiments overnight by proclaiming the U.S. a
bubble economy. The stock market is certainly overvalued by history standards but some of
that steam has been let out over the past month in the nets and techs. Once prices are at
levels that look attractive, liquidity should rush back in. The problem is gauging the
levels that will trigger heavy inflows. |

Capital Markets
/ 09:09AM
Futures are higher in pre-market trading but there is little reason
for buyers to come into the market now. The term "painting the tape" comes to
mind where small trades are influencing the bias to make things look more positive than
they really are. However, there may be honest trading out there this morning where
dipsters are taking positions. Bonds are slightly lower this morning with the yield
visiting the 5.8% level. The NYSE's Grasso is spouting longer trading hours as early as
July. Bad idea. Markets need a rest and the ramification of extended trading hours may
prove to be more negative than positive. |
