Phase Paradox |
Scans
|
The Gallant, a galactic space
cruiser which looks like an auburn crustacean, stumbles
majestically when a rescue expedition to Planet 202 goes awry.
A planetary disaster damages the ship and renders it a
floating hulk. The onboard biology lab gets the brunt of the
bad vibrations and a mutagenic toxin leaks into the hallways
and corridors, turning the crew into brisk, human-like
creatures. To add to the jollies, an alien invasion bumps up
the ship's guest list with a
slew of slavering flesh eaters. At the outset, lieutenant Jude
Sutcliffe and two members of his DaCR the team venture into
the ship to search for survivors and to find a way to escape
from the dead vessel. Two other characters are eventually
controllable by the player: Aila Hoeybraaten and Renee Hearn,
both of whom collaborate with Jude to reach the
end-game.
Phase Paradox melds a blend of 'off the shelf'
3-D exploration
action and lush cinematic interludes. The game boasts four
hours of interludes to add atmosphere, drama, and storyline as
you and cohorts work to survive the deep space horror.
Although not very original, the game joins a procession paying
homage to the style of game started by Bio-Hazard. Phase
Paradox speaks English but the in-game text is all Japanese -
so, it's fairly import friendly and playable for those
illiterate in Japanese, or the kanji-capped. In stock,
US$68.
