We think a lot of players were knocked out with the action in the
forex overnight. Stunning moves but we did okay. We opened additional long dollar via
triggers at Y118.50 but got devastated when it continued to drop to Y117.60. Held, and
watched it rachet back to Y119.20. Not sure of the sentiment out there but we are holding
long for a move back to Y120~Y122 with a trailing stop in tow. Mr Yen spoke but Japanese
GDP for Q1 grew instead of the consensus view that it would contract as it has done for
the past 5 quarters. Recession over? If so, new equilibrium will be found back in the Y110
to Y115 range, a deafening blow to the dollar. |

The Japanese recovery in GDP was a bad sign for U.S. markets and we're
tanking as a result. Most of our stops were taken out so we'll have to initiate new
positions when this sell-off is over. We'd like to see one of those days where the Dow
drops 400 points in a blow-off to exhaust all of the selling. We'd move in with heavy
capital and plant a stake into Dow 10K. Check out the move in gold, gold stocks and the
XAU today. We're not in yet but we'll look for further weakness before we get into the
metal. Our vehicle of choice would be gold futures for the purest play.. |
