The first volume of Capcom Generation has been confirmed for August 27. Saturn and Playstation versions will ship simultaneously at a retail of US$49. Retro gaming fans will enjoy classic shooters 1942, 1943 and 1943 Kai. The second volume, featuring the Ghosts 'n Goblins trilogy has not been confirmed but NCS expects it to ship in September. Capcom plans to release domestic versions of both games though release dates for the USA have not solidified yet. Pre-orders are welcome. |
| In other Capcom news, Bio-Hazard and Bio-Hazard 2 will see re-releases on August 06. Bio-Hazard Director's Cut Dual Shock (US$49) will feature new BGM and an additional Bio-Hazard data disc. Full Dual Shock compatibility will be incorporated throughout the game. In Bio-Hazard 2 Dual Shock (US$60), gamers will find 3 new modes of gameplay and Dual Shock rumbles and feedback during the re-immersion into the horror. NCS expects the audience for both titles to be diehard Bio-Hazard fans only, of which we have many. Pre-orders welcome. |

| The latest issue of Konami's complimentary magazine arrived this morning. With the World Cup opening up in France today, the timing appears perfect. Konami features looks and strategy tips on their World Cup France '98 for the N64 and Winning Eleven III for the Playstation. Also of interest: Rakugakids, a fighting game featuring wacky animal characters that are drawn in the style of Parappa the Rapper. Poy Poy 2 gets a two page spread with screenshots from the sequel and a look at the 16 characters that are set to appear in this throwing action game. The best new feature in Poy Poy 2 appears to be the height differences in terrain where you can throw down upon hapless opponents on lower ground. Saturn Dracula gets some coverage with a reaffirmation of the release date on June 25. |

NCS keeps track of the arcade shooter scene in Japan since it's such a tried and true gaming genre. Our last favorite was Viper Phase from Fabtek which featured one of our preferred weapon types: Napalm. Napalm is a good weapon to use in games that program the properties of Napalm properly. It should burn and then linger after it hits enemy metal, burning and damaging any oncoming attackers. Our current favorite is Guardian Force from Success. Guardian Force features nothing special but it is brilliant to look at and is intense. When we order a new shooter, NCS usually sets the difficulty at beginner settings to get a feel for the game. Once the first level is conquered, the settings are set back to normal mode, which usually means more enemies, more bullets and more scatter fire. Success plans to release Guardian Force for the Saturn on August 06, so we're prepared for another great conversion. The next arcade shooter that we're waiting for is Radiant Silvergun, which we expect next week in ST-V cartridge form. |
