What happens when a blue chip like Gillette pre-announces a shortfall
in earnings? The obvious answer would be that trigger happy fund managers unload their
positions in a fire sale, hoping to get out before the other guy. We saw that this morning
at the opening. However, G has a proven brand and fire sales of this sort will be bought
and eaten up. We went in and scooped up a large position when it hit 41 1/2. It may dip
next week but we will add on the dips. We're closing all of our futures and options
positions today, likely in the afternoon. Triumphant week but there were some scary
moments on Monday when it looked like everything was going to zero. Panicky sellers lost
their shirts and are probably damning their itchy triggers, resilient holders won in the
end... |
