Rival Schools: United by Fate is still about a month away (July 23) but the 2-disc fighting game looks like it will present a formidable conversion from the arcade original. The fighters in the game retain their large figures and the speed is brisk. Close-up camera angles when two fighters are nose to nose have the fighters taking up 3/4 of the screen's height. Below, we have two of the bonus events that the player can engage in. The first is a simple baseball exercise where you bat against a crafty pitcher. The aim here is to hit homers that pop over the fences. The second bonus event is a soccer game where you kick a ball into a number of disembodied heads. Note that kicking into the professor's cranium will cost you 200 points.

XI is a puzzle game that may remind some of Sony's earlier puzzler, Intelligent Qube. The blocks are now replace by dice and the main character is now an elfin munchkin. A domestic version is expected later this summer under the name Dragon Dice.
TGL has announced Advanced Variable Geo 2 for the 32-bit consoles, with delivery expected this fall. Three new girls join the original cast of power-packed and buxom waitresses. One of the new cast members looks exactly like Satomi, except she's thinner and her legs are longer. More details and photos over the next couple of weeks as we get them.
Sony's European division is bringing a new Wipeout-like racing game to the Playstation in July. Rapid Racer takes place on the seas and features gorgeous graphics. A Japanese version should hit the gaming scene simultaneously. Pre-orders are welcome. Rapid Racer

Interest in Sega's Dreamcast console has been high. National Console receives numerous e-mail inquiries concerning approximate ship date, retail price and other assorted details every day. Much of the information that we can offer is congruent with Sega's press release concerning the approximate shipping date of November 20 although we do not have enough information to post final pricing details yet. We can however assure our customers that NCS will have the Dreamcast console in stock within 1 day of it's street date in Japan, if not sooner. The pricing of the new console will see little premium over Japanese retail due to the large quantities that we plan to source in the first few days of Dreamcast's life. Our goal is to have 30% penetration of the new console within our customer base inside the first month of it's inception. The Christmas season should be a major boost to our goals as parents stuff much requested Dreamcast consoles under the tree.
