The Ordia Empire wants to lord over the
world with it's superior air forces and power. Since absolute power
corrupts absolutely, Ordia bears down on it's neighbors with
aggressive expansionist policies. Five nations feigning diplomacy
with the Evil Empire and trying to maintain neutrality are under
pressure to yield or rebel. You're Keid, a youth living in the
floating archipelago known as the Esk Republic, a peaceful agrarian
land which supplies the other nations with food. Incumbent forces
from Ordia begin making menacing gestures and Prime Minister Trund
assembles a covert mission to investigate. As
hero, you and a friend named Payer are recruited to the secret
strike team. A third cohort named Havilan also joins you in your
travels near the beginning of the game. Each character pilots an
airship which they use for travel and for battle. Other cast members
eventually cross your path from the other republics and nations.
Similar in gameplay to other tactical simulations, Blue
Wing Blitz places opposing units on a grid in which to move and
attack. All battles take place in the sky which allows for
acceleration bursts, evasive aerial maneuvers and other big air
strategies that wouldn't be possible on a ground-based tactical
simulation. Variable attacks are also open to the player, including
strafing, dog fighting and bombing runs. Weapon and airship upgrades
may be bolted onto your craft for fierce performance improvements. |
