Pawafaru Pro Yakyu 7 |
| Konami
slakes the Japanese national baseball obsession with their latest PS2 release. Instead of
trying to make the players seem as realistic as possible, as is the norm in evolutionary
circles, the same super deformed pitchers and batters trot back to the field. There is
nary a change in appearance over previous versions of this license despite the reputed
graphical prowess of the PS2. Fans of the series will find more of the same here with the
refined cursor placement system that determines where your pitch lands or the point at
which your batter will strike. Graphically disappointing, Powerful Pro nevertheless offers
entertaining baseball action if you're willing to tolerate the presentation. US$65. |

Import Reminders for
the week
| NCS
originally expected to take delivery of FFIX tomorrow, a day ahead of it's official
Japanese street date but it appears that we will now take delivery on Friday, July
7. This is the date that Japanese citizens will be able to purchase the game in
retail stores. Sony would not release the game early to distribution houses. NCS
recommends the use of Express Mail shipping on Friday so that our customers can receive
the game on Saturday for enjoyment over the weekend. |
| A
number of recent Japanese only NGP imports are expected tomorrow as
follows: Dynamite Slugger, Koi Koi Mahjong, and Pocket Reversi. NCS wil update cover scans
and pricing when we take delivery. |
| The
first shipments of the new PS One console will ship tonight out of Japan. NCS expects
pricing to be in the US$225 range. |
| NCS
will open pre-orders for two upcoming Neo Geo home console imports in the next couple of
days. The first game is Diggerman from Japanese publisher Face
which is a 44 megabyte "Mr. Do" play-alike. We don't have further details on
this title but we'll provide screenshots and additional data as we receive it. The second
title is King of Fighters 2000 from SNK, which
introduces new and exciting battle systems to the fabled "Mother of all fighting
games". Final release dates and pricing will be confirmed over the next 5-6 days. |
