| When
Mario and company race around a track in highly maneuverable
go-karts, a good time is usually had by all. Nintendo reprises
the excitement and fever found in the original SFC/SNES DSP-1
powered version with an improved 2001 model. Players may
choose a racer from the standard stable of characters such as
Donkey Kong, Mario, and Mr. Toad - each armed with a special
attack. Donkey Kong chucks banana peels which spin opponents
for a loop and Bowser barks out fireballs. The game scales and
moves beautifully on the small screen as the racers hurtle
towards the finish line - impressive, to say the least. Mario
Kart Advance features the ability to link/download with three
other players for competitive racing against your friends as
well as compatibility with the Mobile GB adaptor to add your
moniker to ranking lists in Japan. As the Mario games continue
to hit the GBA, Mario Party and Smash Bros would be good
contenders for consideration. | | |
