Fire fighting games were first seen on the Super Famicom. One name that comes to mind is "The Ignition Factor" where your character had to rush into buildings to douse any flames that were erupting on floors and corridors. Sony's new 3-D action game uses the same premise but does it in full-blown 3-D that is impressive to look at and play. Your character, who looks a lot like Agent Armstrong, is a square-jawed fire fighter who carrys a water back-pack and wields an axe. The axe may be used to break down obstructions but you'll also need it to attack enemy critters that populate the floors of the buildings you're trying to save. Your water pack empties out into two water cannons that take out any flames that you may encounter. The water supply isn't endless so you'll have to find canisters of water to refill your ever dwindling supply. Fire Panic plays very well and offers interesting locations to combat flames in.

NCS Rating: 7 Strength: Fun fire-fighting game with unique personality
Weakness: Why are hostages to the flames just standing there?
