| In our humble opinion, one of
the greatest mooks that Gamest has ever published. The volume looks at the evolution of
genres with showcase games and offers ample screenshots of classics such as Forgotten
Worlds (a beloved machine here at NCS), Rainbow Islands, Renegade, Strider and Ninja
Spirits. Hundreds of other games are categorized under their respective genres with at
least three screenshots each. The crowning moment in this mook is the Atari section which
collects every ad of every Atari game published between November 1972 (Pong) and May 1997
(Mace). A section in this mook also takes a look at game ads from other companies. Our
favorites: Tehkan's Swimmer, Technos' Double Dragon and Nintendo's eye catchers for Mario
Bros and Donkey Kong Jr. Best Game is a fitting addition to the libraries of retro-gaming
fans and arcade lovers in general. |
