DC Evangelion Typing Hokan Keikaku

$65

The era of Mavis Beacon, affable and mild-mannered typing tutor, from the PC scene has passed and the new day requires zombies ala Typing of the Dead and anime superheroes as found in the Gunbuster and EVA typing software. Continue your typing lessons from EVA Typing Project-E with a host of new exercises and games. The dancing challenge from the original Gainax typing tutor returns where Shinji and Asuka step, shake and spin to the accuracy of your typing. Falter and Asuka rags on your woeful tapping skills. Other endeavors include typing well so that Hikari Horaki prepares a good lunch for the EVA crew, an Asuka karaoke game where her singing depends on your typing, and a character interaction scenario, among others. Perform poorly in the Hikari stage and your lunch goes up in flames. Whereas the first Dreamcast EVA game included a black shoulder bag, this new boxed edition includes a bonus towel to mop your brow with when the typing runs hot.
PS2 Beatmania IIDX 5th Style

$68

Seasoned Beatmaniacs with a few editions and mixes of practice under their belts will take to 5th Style like rainbow trout to running water. You're fast enough, you're good enough, and songs with 1200 note counts and higher won't phase you. Perhaps. Mixes from favorites such as OutPhase (TaQ/dj TAKA), L.E.D., Naoki, and many others fuel the rhythm attack as your fingers dance across the Beatmania IIDX controller in time to the flashes on screen. Can you say SYNC? Tap deftly and break out the scratch when commanded and you'll be fine.
For new inductees into the Beatmania fold, you might not have what it takes to play with the old hands who have fought their battles and paid their dues. Practice with Beatmania 2nd Mix, 3rd Mix, Dreams Come True and earn your chops first. Once you're confident your abilities have risen to the level of intermediate DJ, then consider taking on the mania and speed that is 5th Style. But then again, don't let NCS' advisory deter you from trying.
