Sakura Taisen 2 Remix |

Taking
place during the Taishou period (early 1900s) in Japan, Sakura Taisen melds anime
interaction, drama, and tactical strategy in a symphony of gaming styles. Character
development is an integral element of the Sakura series where you get to know, and
undeniably love, the cast of characters. The original Sakura duo on the Saturn sold well
and the Dreamcast allows a suitable and engaging encore for the fan while opening up the
license to a new generation audience.
Every nation needs a secret assault force to protect the sovereignty of
state. The Hanagumi clan of woman warriors aka The Imperial
Floral Assault Group take up the sword via Steampunk mechs. Battle is performed on
battlefields through simple tactical movement and action phases. To prove femininity, each
Steampunk mech is color coordinated to each woman warrior's color choice, i.e. Sakura's is
pink and Iris covets yellow.
NCS takes delivery of Sakura Taisen 2 regular
and limited edition for Dreamcast today. Both versions
include the complete Sakura 2 game and an engaging preview of Sakura Taisen 3, expected in
December of 2000. The limited edition box of Sakura includes a pink Puru Puru pack
emblazoned with the Sakura 2 logo. |

History |
Flash |
| Four years
ago, next week, Sakura Taisen was released on the Sega Saturn. Japanese magazines from
Famitsu to Sega Saturn Magazine (now transformed into DC Magazine) blitzed the gaming
public with previews, screenshots and back story to engender a thriving village of
followers. Otaku who would salivate at the thought of the game being finally released
after months of press coverage. NCS combed through our archives to locate the first public
media demo of Sakura and we're pretty sure it is housed in Flash Saturn,
circa summer 1996. This CD was a give-away from Sega to cultivate interest in the Saturn
console. Flash included two playable demos of Virtua On and SS Bomberman. Both were fine
examples of gaming but we're sure that majority interest was mainly in the short but sweet
Sakura Taisen cinema which showed the fuchsia princess in full motion for the first time.
A second cinema in the game featured Tengai Makyo: The Apocalypse. Click for the big scans. |
