DC USA Travails
North American Dreamcast consoles still appear to be highly allocated, with even top tier retail chains currently sold out or facing shortages. These are the prime retailers who rank high on the pecking order when it comes to first dibs on toys and gaming paraphenalia. With the holiday season rushing up, Sega of America appear to be fighting an uphill battle in supplying their popular console to everyone that wants one. In any case, the company finds itself in the enviable position of a huge built-in market demand for the Dreamcast. Every shipment of new units will be snapped up by pre-orders and eager consumers anxious to try the next generation of console gaming. Should the undersupply continue over the next couple of months, DC hoarding and the inevitable price hikes may stoke peripheral retail valuations to outlandish levels. Elmo did it, Furby did it and the DC may very well be this year's XMAS mania.
